Hello, I am trying to add browser sources to obslive but when I do, I get black bars at the bottom and top of the overlays. I think it has to do something with the width and height I can adjust in properties. Any ideas on this?

@errant lark The default resolution for StreamElements overlays (theme and custom) is 1920x1080. Please add them in OBS at their full resolution and use CTRL+F to fit to screen if necessary. You can then downscale your stream in OBS settings > Video if you'd like https://i.imgur.com/6bWXxjR.png

Then your webcam is a different aspect resolution than the border. Most themes offer both 4:3 and 16:9 options. Go into the overlay editor, hide one, and show the other.

@cyan reef Your log contains no recording or streaming session. Results of this log analysis are limited. Please post a link to a clean log file.
To make a clean log file, please follow these steps:

Restart OBS.
Start your stream/recording for about 30 seconds. Make sure you replicate any issues as best you can, which means having any games/apps open and captured, etc.
Stop your stream/recording.
Select Help > Log Files > Upload Current Log File. Send that link via this troubleshooting tool or whichever support chat you are using.

Speed tests are irrelevant in this case. They're best case scenarios generated by connecting to multiple servers. It's no indication of your direct connection with one particular Twitch ingest server.

Custom Fonts

Steps:

Install the font on the streaming PC or choose a pre-installed windows font.
In the overlay widget settings, select Text Settings
Click on Enable Custom Font
Type the name of the font as it appears in the windows font directory (This is usually C:\Windows\Fonts)

Note: After installing fonts, the browser and OBS must be restarted for the font to appear.

Hi, rather new to obs live, i have a small animation i have installed on my stream, though i was wondering if there was a way to have it change depending on what's said in chat,
ie, the animation is of a girl doing a static dance, if someone would say RIP i would like the animation change to her crying, note that i am making the animation videos my self, i just cant work out if i can have the animation change on command for say 5 seconds then revert back to the original animation,

Q1) Yes and no - OBS.Live is a plugin for OBS Studio, meaning that you can restream but not have multiple accounts connected to our plugin.
Q2) There is a custom widget in #widget-share that can help you with that. Don't remember its name, but its there, look over them slowly.
Q3) No
Q4) Make sure you don't have copyrighted assets from SL and any media file above 30MB in SLOBS, when using the importer

@nimble gull If you are not hearing your alerts and/or Media Request, you are most likely using the Control Audio via OBS option in your browser source properties.
To make sure you hear the alerts and the stream also hears them, follow along the screenshot bellow.

@wraith trellis If your commands recently stopped working and you're using OBS.Live and a custom bot name do the following:

In OBS.Live, click on the hamburger menu (three stripes) at the top left of your activity feed
Click on Stream Settings > Custom bot name
In the Custom bot name field select Set custom bot name, not your already existing username (with capital letters). Note: If you already connected an account that way, the third entry will show as the account name (see image https://i.imgur.com/sO7fWOX.png).
Scroll a bit down and click on the purple Connect Custom Bot Account button
Log in as usual and Authorize the custom bot name
Back in the Activity feed, click on the Send Test Message button and check if your custom bot name starts working again

@rugged quail Our Dashboard and Overlay Editor are Chromium Optimized. We strongly recommend using Chrome. Opera GX and the new Microsoft Edge Chromium might work closest to Chrome as its also Chromium built. Firefox also works, but some things might look a bit different or not work. We do not recommend using Internet Explorer with our Dashboard as it does not support functions.
If the website doesn’t work on chrome, be sure none of your plugins is blocking our website or clear your cookies. You can try if the website works in an incognito tab.

Hello,I'm new to the program, but I was hoping to use 2 different webcams for 2 different scenes, but I can't get it to work. 2) Start your stream/recording for about 30 seconds. Make sure you replicate any issues as best you can, which means having any games/apps open and captured, etc.
3) Stop your stream/recording.
4) Select Help > Log Files > Upload Current Log File. Copy the URL and paste the link here.

Note: If you do not see an obsproject.com URL, you will need to update OBS Studio to version 22+.

Not necessary. Generally, if your audio cuts out upon changing scenes, it's because you added it as a source to that scene, so once you leave the scene, it stops playing.

Custom Fonts

Steps:

Install the font on the streaming PC or choose a pre-installed windows font.
In the overlay widget settings, select Text Settings
Click on Enable Custom Font
Type the name of the font as it appears in the windows font directory (This is usually C:\Windows\Fonts)

Note: After installing fonts, the browser and OBS must be restarted for the font to appear.

Hi folks, I have an issue (at leats i think it is) my alert sounds are reeeeaaally quiet and I dont seem to be able to increase their volume, if i set the option to control volume in OBS its already at max volume and if i change the volume of the audio in the (widget?) even at 100 they sound the exact same.

I see that you're using your CPU with x264, but OBS still needs some GPU resources to draw the frame. When your game is hogging like 95%+ of your GPU, OBS doesn't have any room to breath.

@timber spruce If you are not hearing your alerts and/or Media Request, you are most likely using the Control Audio via OBS option in your browser source properties.

Summary of Issue: game on main monitor drooping to 60 fps when/ during my use of stream elements

Full explanation of your issue: when I'm just playing COD MW my frame rate is around 144hrz but as soon as i open stream elements (just open the app not streaming or anything like that) my game drops to 60fps and stays there unless i close the obs

Hello! I'm not sure the best channel to post this, so I'll post here. I have logged into StreamElements with my YouTube and with my Twitch accounts separately in the past. I'd like to link the two together under one single account, but when I'm logged into one and try to add the other, I get a message saying "Channel is already claimed". How best would I resolve this problem?

Merging accounts only allows faster ways to switch between accounts
Merging accounts does not allow data sharing between accounts - different streaming platforms, different type of events
Merging accounts allows duplicating/sharing overlays between the accounts

If you understand the limitations of merging and want to proceed, please find the JWT tokens (!jwt) from both accounts you want to merge and you will be directed to DM them to a staff member

Hello, Not sure if this is the right tab but I have been having some issues with my overlays once I ad them to OBS live. Everything else in scene will run with no lag/skipping but the animated overlays I have seem to skip and the alerts hardly even play. I have tried restarting OBSLive and computer, as well as removing said sources from the scene and i am still having no luck.

hi I have obs.live set to capture specific window, with the game selected, however, whenever i alt-tab to a different program, the current windows I have open are displayed in the stream/recording. This just started happening a few weeks ago and appears to only happen with RDR2 roleplay on RedM.

Restart OBS
Start your stream/recording for about 30 seconds. Make sure you replicate any issues as best you can, which means having any games/apps open and captured, etc.
Stop your stream/recording.
Select Help > Log Files > Upload Current Log File. Copy the URL and paste the link here.

Note: If you do not see an obsproject.com URL, you will need to update OBS Studio to version 22+.

Quick question I pretty much have everything figured out with setting up the custom bot, but as soon as it is supposed to redirect me nothing happens. Is there some thing restricting the redirection of bot dpi website? Cuz it’s working fine just doesn’t redirect me so it doesn’t give me the chance to “send a test message”

Won’t that remove the entire bot? Including all of its integrations with everything that I have set up? It’s got to be way easier than that, I’m just trying to change the name, something is just blocking the redirected window. I don’t wanna delete the mega brain of a third party bot u guys built

Please understand that every setup will be very different.

Any guides or videos that claim otherwise are misinforming. Your best option is to start with a base and adjust as necessary.

You can run the OBS auto-configuration tool. To use the auto-config, click on the Tools menu in OBS, select Auto-Configuration Wizard and then just follow the on-screen directions.
You can use this tool to get baseline settings for your hardware and adjust as necessary from there.

Test, test, and test again. We are happy to offer suggestions for any issues you may be having afterwards, but not a list of settings.

i have a small question concerning overlay that are taken from StreamElement free overlays. if the overlays are no longer available but are still in my personnal overlay on my StreamElement account, can they still be used on my stream??? because if i download OBS. the program works, if i add OBS.live everything works again. But the moment i add my overlays then the program crashes permanently. need some help i got no more alerts or overlays.

Hi All, I cant seem to get the streamelements bot working, its not responding to commands. I tried the following:

Part Channel with bot, disconnecting twitch from streamelements and reconnecting
Part Channel with bot, logging out, log back in and make bot join with channel
Unmod and mod streamelements from chat using /mod & /unmod
Steps 1-3 I tried with the button 'if you're lazy' and also with the /mod streamelements

Does anyone have another solution? I tried also with 2 browsers (chrome and firefox, latest versions)

@south scaffold If your commands recently stopped working and you're using OBS.Live and a custom bot name do the following:

In OBS.Live, click on the hamburger menu (three stripes) at the top left of your activity feed
Click on Stream Settings > Custom bot name
In the Custom bot name field select Set custom bot name, not your already existing username (with capital letters). Note: If you already connected an account that way, the third entry will show as the account name (see image https://i.imgur.com/sO7fWOX.png).
Scroll a bit down and click on the purple Connect Custom Bot Account button
Log in as usual and Authorize the custom bot name
Back in the Activity feed, click on the Send Test Message button and check if your custom bot name starts working again

I'm by no means a pro. In fact, I'm looking for one to help ME get Streamelements set up.

There's a URL available somewhere on both streamelements AND streamlabs. You enter this into the browser source in OBS. If you have the streamlabs browser source, but are using streamelements, it won't show up. Only your streamlabs will.

You've got to find the URL for the browser source from your streamelements account.

So I used to be able to do a stream through OBS live. While doing a window cap of my Xbox companion app so that I could have my alerts and overlays (not the best thing but I’m trying ;;-;;). Now when I go to do once I start the “stream mode” inside the Xbox companion app. It freeze Frames with the OBS. So I can’t stream it because the screen doesn’t update.

With the last update did they take the ability to do that out? Or am I just missing a setting somewhere

Ok hopefully I can explain my problem in a way that will make some sort of since. When i try to stream certain games on the Monitor that the video feed goes to all i get is a black screen. Games like the Div 2 and Borderlands 3 would not show up but Destiny 2 would. I was suggested that should uninstall and reinstall the program and now even Destiny 2 does not show up either. The home screen does show up and smaller indie games like Full Metal Furies does show up on the monitor

Its like blocked on my main account, which i dont use anymore, and doesnt show my current account feed.
I tried connecting and disconnecting EVERYTHING on my computer.
Even tried changing the account on the "edit widget data" but i cant, when i try to connect with twitch it automaticly conects with the other account, even if it isnt connected anywhere else

from the Overlay Editor > Session data on top right (monitor symbol) > Goals tab > reset progress of desired goal
from the Dashboard > Activity feed on the left > Widget data on the right > Goals tab -> reset progress of desired goal

Note: Goal widgets (progress) only counts up and doesn't go down automatically, if you lose followers/subs.

@regal saffron I had same issue and i found the solution. First, go to program files and delete the obs plugin files. Uninstall OBS. then download OBS Live Installer, u will see two options. Install OBS and OBS. Live, make sure both boxes re checked. After installation, u can go to uninstall obs live first. The problem i realize is that obs itself is more updated version if you re downloading directly from obs website, where the obs live package is an older version of obs

If you are not hearing your alerts and/or Media Request, you are most likely using the Control Audio via OBS option in your browser source properties.
To make sure you hear the alerts and the stream also hears them, follow along the screenshot bellow.

Steps:

Install the font on the streaming PC or choose a pre-installed windows font.
In the overlay widget settings, select Text Settings
Click on Enable Custom Font
Type the name of the font as it appears in the windows font directory (This is usually C:\Windows\Fonts)

Note: After installing fonts, the browser and OBS must be restarted for the font to appear.

When I transition to a scene with a StreamElements overlay, there's a "black screen" for a few seconds when the scene becomes active on my stinger transition. This happens when "Shutdown Source when Inactive" is set.

yes. It has to load the overlay. If you're seeing the next scene before your stinger starts/finishes you need to adjust your stinger timing.

Helloooo!!! Since the last update, my basic computer is having issues with obs.live. Specifically the media player, which I have a youtube playlist playing through it. The problem is: If I have that running and I get bit alerts or other stream alerts, my broadcast starts stuttering and pausing and then I end up on a long delay with my viewers.
So for now, I've switched to running YouTube in Chrome in the background, but, this is not ideal.

Is this a known issue? Or should I be doing something different to avoid these issues? Like I said, I had no problems before the last update so I feel like they're related. Thanks for reading!

Hi, I've been using the chat bot for well over a year now. Works great. My only issue is that I'm trying to use a custom bot name. I used to use a second account and that worked fine but I've started using my main account as the chatbot so I can use my emotes. It works great for a few days but after a while it just stops working and I have to re log into obs live for it to start working again. I can tell that the bot is still reading the chat, since I am able to update counters using commands, but the bot does not reply at all. This issue only occurs when using my main account, not a separate account. Thanks for your help! 🙂

Use the third option in the drop down menu, even for your main account. The second option that already shows your name is known the be bugged. 😄

Hello! I made a custom animation for a subscriber alert. I've made custom animations for follower and raid alerts with no issue. The video is made in aftereffects, converted to webm then uploaded to streamelements just like my other two. The animation shows in the preview window, but when I emulate an event the default animation shows up. Please help

Nvm...I figured it out. It was defaulted to pick a random animation if the subscription matched more than one variation and just pressing the emulate button triggers this 'random' pick to always be the default animation

So I'm currently having an issue where if i set text in a "recent followers" etc. label to scrolling it does not actually show in my OBS any of the text scrolling or working at all.

I'm also having an issue with alerts where if i set the delayed text appearance for example to 3 seconds the animation for the alert starts however doesn't visibly appear until the text does, however setting the text to disappear 3 seconds before the end of the alert animation causes no issues.

Everything works fine if i ignore those options and make a work around however it looks a bit unprofessional in my opinion so i would like to know how to fix them.

And refreshing the page cache in OBS doesn't work just incase someone suggests that** and the bot answered before i could finish typing lol

Hi, I am new here, and noob streamer, I am using OBS as main software but as my laptop is not so powerful (and I am streaming and gaming from it at once) I'm looking to offload it a bit. 2) In the Target field, add the following to the very end: --remote-debugging-port=40404
3) Open OBS (or restart if it was open)
4) Open your web browser and type in: localhost:40404
5) Click on StreamElements - Activity feed
6) Navigate to the Console tab
7) Type the following into the console and hit enter: store.customBot.removeCustomBotIntegration()
8) Try setting the custom bot name
9) Remove the additional flag in step 2 from your shortcut properties."

Having real trouble getting my youtube/streamelements overlay working. All it is, is an alert box. I made it on the streamlements page, then copied the URL into a browser source. I then used my burner account to subscribe, but the alert box doesn't show up. I've only got "tips" and "Subscription" alerts active. what's going on?

I did a fresh install of windows 10 on my pc that I stream from. I had a custom twitch bot account before I did this. I got on today and cant get my custom bot account to show up instead of streamelements. does my stream stats need reset again?

I already kicked the bot from the server by the streamelements website. I also un modded the bot from the stream chat and re added it to both and that didnt fix it either

the last time this happened was when I changed my twitch account name. they did a chat stat reset and everything worked fine after that.

not sure where you're from exactly but maybe.

the solutions we provided were mostly for PNDA, I'm still not sure what your issue is and what we need to fix

@steady wasp Dropped Frames means that you have a bad connection between your device and the streaming platform and most likely something related to your ISP not handling the connection properly.

Speed tests usually cannot help solve this problem and its best to use this guide: https://obsproject.com/wiki/Dropped-Frames-and-General-Connection-Issues

If you stream to twitch, use the !twitchtest command and do a connection test to your regional servers.
