However, it only says this in the new obs.live extensions chatbox; not regular twitch chat; there its still normal

Hopefully~This is the proper place for this, Okay so I am running the OBS StreamElements Studio (OBS-Studio with the StreamElements upgraded into it)
I am On an old Alienware 18 laptop but the minute I open the app on to my laptop the app makes all 3 of my laptops fans instantly speed up highly fast + louder and fars I know that's meaning it's heating up the laptop since I was doing both game + stream on this laptop getting affiliated that way but now too Leary to stream with this happening, If I open a game & the app the fans only ever slightly speed up a bit more but once I hit the go to stream on/live button on the app it makes the fans go rediculasly crazy increadibly fast & increadibly loud almost seemingly cover over the top of my voice with the webcam up into the stream display, Other times bringing the stream app OBS-Studio\OBS StreamElements app up with it speeding up the fans without going live yet still then Bringing up the game the game doesn't speed the fans up anymore the they already are but once I close the app of OBS StreamElements in studio mode the fans return to normal speeds~calming down again the problem I am having with this mostly is it will make my laptop Instant Power Out + Instant shutdown crash in this way of the app heating up the laptop feeling the heat coming through the built-in Keyboard's as those keys can be felt with my fingers of the keys heating up and even more so when doing a live to twitch stream & game running on the same laptop at the same time, again, while streaming to twitch. Any idea's? Any coding changes to the app that could improve this from happening-?-since I am not a coder but read something like this somewhere was a part of the problem on a streaming PC app before. ??

Fans speed up based on the amount of heat your pc is producing. You said your laptop is old which means it could have dust inside of the computer that isnt helping the heat. If you're streaming from a laptop(which most laptops arent designed to be streamed from unless they have an i7 in them) you're probably going to want an external laptop cooler.

This sounds more of a general OBS question not related to our extension as our extension wont add much additional power.

@scenic oyster cuda is probably right on this one. If its an old laptop, I would recommend cleaning it out the best you can, and seeing if that helps. I have a 7 year old asus that never ramps up anymore (after I pulled a piece of plastic out of the fan stopping it from spinning). Another thing you can look at is to see what your CPU is doing. Open task manager, and watch it as you open the game, the app, and when you start streaming. Something that could reduce CPU usage would be to increase the speed of the CPU preset (an advanced setting of the encoder when using x264)

@solemn kindle you have to set the correct audio source in OBS. Make sure the audio source for your "desktop Audio" in OBS is Set to the same source as your windows audio output

@solemn kindle the top one should be what windows is putting out, so all your game sounds, alert sounds, song request etc. So yes, enable it, then your viewers should hear everything.

You can test this by making a local recording and watch it back to see if game audio Was captured.

@zinc lark I know this is going a bit off topic of OBS now in a follow up reply but I probably should mention I do keep the fans cleaned and as Alienware has a plate or device devider plated rack blocking easy access to the graphics card where it may have fans on the graphics card that needs to be cleaned possibly as well and can't get to the GPU and Alienwares did run i-7 processors but I think they were at the beginning of they're being released. I was looking into external fans to put under but haven't been able to afford much or anything like that even with Twitch Streaming being my only Career/job and you don't get much with SSI pay either anyway's going way of topic of the channel rooms tittle but Yeah, I just find it very odd I get that happening on 5-year old 2013 shipped date Alienware 18 only when I Opening OBS-Studio's upgraded to StreamElements, Opening the OBS app then back to normal upon closing the OBS again. Well I'm not sure what else I can do and do wish I could be having the proper tools to unattach the hard drive cords attachment piece & etcetera to get to look over the top half of the laptop in order to see if it needs cleaning as well. Sorry for going a little bit off topic here but hopefully that helps a little in my direction with OBS but nothing else really does it like it does with the OBS-Studio/OBS-StreamElements App, maybe Laptop, I guess will figure it out one way or another. Cuda, Yeah might be on it already whoever he or she is but anyways.

@scenic oyster if you want to test it, here are a couple of things to do (don't skip things).

1. Open OBS.live, and screenshot CPU usage amount in task manager (for OBS.live and total).
2. Close app, screenshot total usage.
3. Uninstall, reinstall plain OBS Studio.
4. Open Studio, screenshot usage details.

Also, even at 5 years old, the CPU is not at the same level as current or last couple gen cores. Even though it says i7, it can be less efficient at cooling and processing power. I personally struggled to stream with an i7-6700k that was overclocked.

As for heat, are you using a desk? Anything less than a flat surface could block necessary air vents

Yup A desk that has plain flat top surface nothing around built on to the top flat surface but it's desk thats top of waist height when standing and up to chest almost neck hieght when sitting down. Someone suggested that the glue that they use in laptops could be wearing out which could be the culprit too but that was a Mediacom worker bringing an replacement rental modem too but honestly, I don't think this laptop has glue in it, lol. I know someone suggested that Spectre or whatever else it was called of meltdown could be a part of it too to which companies we're trying to send out patches for it not to occur and Intel had been one of them but then some companies we're sending out patches to thier apps/software for preventive measures of it as well.

Anyways, Really leery of uninstalling with all setups I have put into OBS-Studio's/OBS~S-E's since I would have to figure out a way to backup all of those coming from more then one source of webs even the webs for overlays and all the Transform settings, plus, all of the filters/Filter settings out to somewhere maybe Google Docs since very low storage space on laptop before I uninstall + re-installing it, also making back up copy+paste of the scenes I have and sources then names I've labeled them as to each of them as well. Honestly, I really love the studio mode OBS to see what I am transferring over to in-case I have to make changes to that scenes set up before hitting transfer out of the other and I like to keep an watchful eye on that other one while I am doing to that to the transfer to scene even seeing the two scenes in camparison to each other side by side each other but yeah probably do a uninstalled then reinstall to figure it out and Screenshot it all and might need to capture its usage when you gone into live streaming mode with it as well. So might take next month to get around to this maybe even -,- January before it gets done with way things been going for me or going with me so I won't skip things but just need to figure out how I am going to do this all to get it completed.

Usually you should output your stream at a 16:9 resolution as Twitch forces it. Since you are on an ultra wide Monitor, it is still best to downscale it in OBS.

When you change it, do a test recording to see if it helps when you downscale to a 16:9 aspect ratio resolution

(720p is the recommended one for low bitrate)

As much as i can I always try and resolve this, especially since OBS Support usually says that our plugin lags PCs, but in fact it doesn't 99.99% of the time. If it lags its due to low PC specs most likely and animated overlays.

But this aspect ratio error the report says, I'm not familiar really.

@clear wave I have an 8700k overclocked to 4.7ghz. I used both slobs and OBS and had the same problem. Any game I played whether on x264 or nvenc my CPU usage would be 100% and OBS would be at 45-55%. I tried a lot of stuff to fix this issue from reinstalling to configuration

What fixed it for me was a fresh installation of windows. Legit.

Either something in one of the latest update or a program on my PC was a reward. I have no clue. I now am able to stream/play black ops 4 on medium settings at 720p60fps at fast setting.

I can push 900p60fps but it's a little extra work on the couch and black ops esp blackout had a lot to render on screen

Hi! I'm helping a friend with his streaming and he is getting tons of problems with his overlays. The first overlay he made was the Joyride animated and the text disappeared behind the panels instead of being on top even though in the actual overlay edit they were on top. Now he has a problem with Joyride Static that the text disappears when he goes in game.

Trust me when I say I tried everything too overclocking, installating new programs, Gpu fixes etc nothing was fixing it. So yeah dude exhaust everything you can before formatting since you'll need to set everything up again

StreamElements has an overlay system (you can add the alerts into your overlay from the website). I wouldn't use StreamLabs OBS.... just use OBS Studio.

You don't need your dashboard or gc open. Alerts play automatically.

You can try clearing your obs source cache to resolve things showing double

and it was part of the first version of OBS.Live before Beta. Now the chat you see in OBS.Live is built entirely from us.

That will happen if you have it set up to close item when not use - if you go in to the "source" and scroll down you can disable that (its like something when not in use) but it will use more CPU if you do change it @tulip cipher

How come that the "Auto optimizer" is choosing NVENC over x264 when I have a 980 TI EVGA and a i7 8700k CPU? On top of that, I've all of a sudden started to drop in frames.

@marsh void The "Auto optimizer" is not really helpful for max stream quality. It is designed to make a stream work for someone who has no idea at all. 8700k will do 1080p 60FPS veryfast without any issues with any game.

Also check the selected twitch server, changing that should solve dropped frames if you have those and not FPS drops.

hi folks, got a really odd one for you, I have a Logitech c920, and when adding it to OBS.Live as a video capture device is renders as a 4:3 screen - deleting the source, and optining the Logitech software it renders as the 16:9 device it is in the preview box on the settings panel. there are no crops or anything set in the source - any ideas how i can fix this?

@lime bloom this is possbie, even with our tools, you just need to figure out what you expect to see there. You can have everything in the background since chroma key is transparent, just change the order in OBS. Examples would be Stream Store graphics or Media Request videos.

4. Copy/paste everything in the box to Ground Control oAuth settings and enter the name for the bot account
5. Restart Ground Control (custom name may take a few minutes to take effect)

Mac does not currently support renaming the bot.

I had asked this before but didn't get an answer. When I am using StreamElements OBS my desktop audio isn't being captured no matter if i have it on default or on the actual device. It works find in normal OBS and SLOBS but just not StreamElements OBS - i have restarted the computer, uninstalled/installed SEOBS and still no change.

Anyone have any ideas?

OBS.Live is just a plugin for OBS Studio, not its own version. It doesn't affect the regular software's ability to capture desktop audio.

@limber heart This is a tough one, because it is working fine on other systems (mine included. I stream fine with it). It will take some extra digging, along with possibly a TeamViewer session to see if we can find the root of the problem. Thank you I was just trying to get everything ready for Game day this weekend with Extra Life and noticed it wasn't working again. Next week I will reach back out and see if we can figure it out.

Unfortunately not. They made their own extension for their exports. Besides, we work cloud-based via browser sources, so you'll need to upload your graphic assets anyway.

@versed ore in the overlay editor you can adjust what you see on you stream.. in the layers menu on the bottom right you can turn on and off the widgets..when you are done, click launch then copy the link in a browser source in OBS. if you want to change something..you have tot do it in the overlay editor..not obs

I was just at Twitchcon maybe 2nd stream back so I never changed anything. Was working fine before i left though

Question 1: With these settings when I’m playing Heroes of the Strom mostly twitch display freezes for 5 seconds. I’m checking dropped frames its mostly %7 or %10 I believe my upload speed is not stable. When I’m checking twitch dashboard it says Excellent quality at connection information, but it freezes.
With same settings sometimes, I can stream very smooth and good quality can anyone check my settings. I need help about this issue. I will be going to double my internet soon with a load balancer router but first I should figure it out this.

Most people suggest fully updating windows or doing some stuff me personally I would not do.

2. Add an item that has these settings on it:

• Stream Perk
• Loyalty settings to your desire
• (Next step) Add contents (image and sound you want to play)
• "Redeeming this item shows an alert
• Redemable via chat
• Skip Requirements

3. Get the item name/command from the 2nd creation page
4. Go to commands page here: https://streamelements.com/dashboard/bot/commands/custom
5. Add command with desired name and have response for command as: ${redeem item_name_here
6. Go to your overlays and edit the overlay you use.
7. Click on "widgets" and add "Store redemptions" widget. Click save and you should be golden.
8. Test your own command in chat and have OBS or editor open to hear sound
9. ???
10. Profit in viewer interaction and that dosh

Hmmm so my Elgato is showing up as a black screen all of a sudden - streamed Fortnite fine and then went to stream some Fallout about 4 hours later and it was just not there have deleted and re added it a heap with no luck and I can see Elgato in the elgato app there's no reason for it to have stopped working?

You might have accidentally set a keybind to stop streaming, which is in the obs settings.

Or you're losing connection to the twitch server you are streaming to.

Our addon doesnt interefere with connections.

For my activity feed on obs live, it's just a copy of the chat. Is there a way to fix this or is it set to be this way?

There may be an issue with your stream key. I'd suggest copying and pasting it again, making sure you didn't accidentally get an extra space at the end or something.

How do I make sure I have all the audios in my stream

I'm using Astros A50 gen 2 with Elgato connected to my PS4

Usually OBS should pick up the audio coming from the Elgato video stream

Not sure how the capture software works, but you need to capture that and as long as the elgato software provides audio, OBS will pick it up

Well one other thing you did wrong is, you have Streamlabs tipping page bellow your channel.

We are streamelements and we can't track tipping that go pass the SL tipping page.

@frosty musk it depends on what overlay you are using from us. Animated ones are a bit beefy than normal and if you have hypecup and/or kappagen then the usage will increase.

ye im investigating that and it seems that the animated overlays with simple animations takes of my cpu like 10-16% lol

Have you tried using a Static overlay? Also you try to put the Animated overlay to 30FPS instead of 60 to see if there is a difference.

Hey! Why are my followers getting banned from my chat? They aren't saying anything offensive or using words of the like, but they can be chatting in the stream to me then boom, messages deleted and user timed out

You can try asking the people who got hit.

But timed out messages won't show in your VODs or anything.

It's not banning, it's timing them out.

If you go to https://streamelements.com/dashboard/bot/filters you can set how long it times them out for.

You can also set custom messages so you can see in the chat why they're getting timed out.

That'll help you narrow it down.

hi, encounterd a problem with obs live and ground control: i use both at the same time. obs live for chat and activity feed and ground control for the music playlist. but this causes the bot to be double in the chat. so every timer and every message is doubled in chat.

also it would be nice to have the full twitch chat in obs live. it's a bit useless at the moment because i don't see restrained messages, bits and have no mod tools in there, it's only good for reading...

@manic spruce If you are not on the latest version of OBS.Live, I'd suggest to update it, as we have improved some aspects of the chat, but do note that its not v1.0, its v0.4 at the moment. As for the double chat bot, I assume you are referring to the default named bot, which is "streamelements" and not a renamed bot right?

@shy mountain thanks for your reply. yes i have my custom named bot (which is th se bot) and a streamelements named bot in it. i also have the latest version of obs live, and i really like it but as i said, at the moment i need a second chat window to notice everything what happens. but yeah i know its in development.

Ok if you are using GC to have the renamed bot work, I'd suggest going into its settings and disabling it, because OBS.Live now supports custom bot name and I think that makes the bot answer twice

good morning, the last couple of times i've started my stream up it works for a couple of minutes and then twitch shows me as offline, same problem with mixer. stream health is fine in obs, bit rate is always over what i have in settings, internet is working fine but stream doesn't stay live for more than ~5 mins

Most likely your internet is not stable enough, if Mixer and Twitch are turning your stream off.

You are dropping the connection to their servers.

We usually suggest people use a capture card to capture console gameplay and then add it to OBS sources and then stream.

@rustic zealot when was the last donation you got that was "missed"? I am seeing one in your feed from yesterday. If an alert didn't pop, it was because either you were missing the alert box, or the browser source is frozen because of other (pc) reasons
