Bot Backfills purpose was to get servers started so players didn't have to sit in a loading screen, so players can replace the bots. it was supposed to encourage community servers. What an utter betrayal to the portal community

You're correct about the bots purpose though, they were meant to be there as easy replacements for real players to take over, so if the server is taking long it wouldn't be a boring nightmare.

Just read the new update, trash. Requires 8 humans to start up, so basically everyone is going to just be sitting in their server for hours waiting for people to join. Took mine 6 days to even get 8 people on it after the game launched. Just bring back launch portal and buy more servers you cheap lying a-holes

That's great, but 2 problems

1. Still reduced XP
2. I actually WANT players on my server. Bot backfill keeps the game lively and active though whenever there aren't enough people on there or a mass amount of people leave at once.

I feel as though there's also the issue of what exactly the gameplay should feel like or look like in a Portal server. Some people want Hardcore, but not "insta-kill" type of gameplay, but the most popular servers always have that enabled for "Fast XP Gain".

There's tons of people who want the experience to be something similar to the original, just slightly altered to be more "realistic", but not to the point that the game isn't fun anymore.

It probably doesn't have any XP on it. Read the post they just released:

"Each game mode now supports up to 12 bots.,
If bot backfill is enabled, matches require 8 players to start, and there will be up to 6 bots on each team."

Not sure what you did to get around that, but it looks like as of right now the intended state of the game is that whatever you're describing should have 0 XP and to get XP at all it would have to have 8 humans.

When you exit the server, look at your stats again. If they are calculated - reverted. Because they do revert . Disabling stats is good because it destroys the SBMM system with wrong stats.

I do know about that and I have exit out multiple times and no stats got reverted unfortnely lol. SBMM doesn't exist in this game.

This is EA's fault for the way they set this up. The community was very vocal about wanting a server browser in the game, and that they wanted the ability for players to make custom servers with custom map rotations, class/gadget/weapon restrictions, and bots. EA said don't worry portal will have a server browser and you can make servers like that in portal and it will be much more lenient for retaining full XP than 2042. And on top of that they said you can make goofy modes.

If the default game just had a server browser plus a rental server system like BF3/4/1 and then reserved Portal for custom maps and goofy game modes, a lot of this could have been avoided.

I don't know what kinda sorcery they did but the elevator functions pretty much perfectly. The doors open and close. It has an audio indicator when in use and it brings you up to the top really smoothly

Yup the latest changes have just killed portal for everyone. The normal PvP player who actually like BF are now forced to play with bots again and the PvE players won't be happy as they will still have to contend with 7 other real people that might be better than them.
EA, portal servers don't work like that, you can't just get 20 people in a lobby in one go. A portal server it takes a few rounds to populate. You fixed it with the 1 player minimum and our community games were thriving and you have now killed it. If you want the limit for bot back filled the n that's fine but you are now forcing PvP players to play with bots when they hate it with that 20 people threshold! Please revert to 1 or even 4 to start a round. Why on earth should the threshold be higher without bots than with??? You guys are losing the plot with these senseless decisions.

1. BOT XP should be 1xp per kill. Just let people do assignments and challenges etc, creating portals maps etc.

2. Persistent servers who've not had players in them for 2h, should be removed. Close them down till the owner restarts them and limit the persistent servers to one per account.

Yeah I'm sure it's next to nothing if they are just sitting there idle, but they do use resources. Depends on what exactly the server does when it's empty. I've had empty game servers on my computer using several gigs of ram and I've had empty servers use a few Mb.

The quota they have set is probably the number of servers and not resources used

The answer is just let people host their servers locally if they want to play against bots. They've had one since 2042. If you earn too much xp for one thing you outright can't earn anymore for like 5 to 10 minutes. So if you keep throwing ammo down for example and its the only thing you're recieving xp for you'll get timed out essentially.

Yeah, I had a popular server pre season 1 with backfill and vanilla settings. Usually, with 10-20 players on each team with the rest being bots. That was the most fun I've had in a Battlefield game in almost 10 years. We got bait and switched.

It’s part of the big plan: dice don’t wanna invest in more servers, so they release portal with full progression with bots. Global quota error. They kill bots, and with doing that the pve community as well. Error is gone. They get bots back in portal 1 day before double xp weekend, even though they did it in such an idiotic way that it doesn’t work for pve, or even pvp in most cases, but because of double xp the farms are back full force (even though they were never gone even when they removed bots). Global quota error is back, so everyone and their mother will connect bots in portal == global quota error

There are already posts in Reddit blaming the bot backfill for global quota errors 😂

That helps dice to triple down on “bots are bad for the game, we want full pvp”

Even though in most regions official servers are 90% bots

• They advertised XP-enabled PvE play,
• Punished fair players instead of exploiters,
• Left XP farms intact, and
• Removed incentives for any other kind of play in Portal.

And yes, despite all these "fixes", XP farms are still working right now (although affected by XP cap)

Even if you want to use Portal for legit PvP/PvE experience, you cannot, because existing "server browser" is missing one key filter: "Full XP"

You have to go and customize at lease one of each weapon and find the "NEW" item .. I had this when I unlocked the 1-4x variable scope.. I had to go into every weapon, even the locked ones and customize, then go to optics and click on the new scope to get rid of the orange dots.

Once we achieve weapon mastery 50, after every 10 levels, we should be able to get 10 more points to keep adding attachments to weapons. I would love to be able to fully perk a weapon with no limits, and having to grind the weapon to lvl 100+ sounds like a good trade off

I have a problem with Battlefield 6 on Portal: a friend of mine (he plays on PC) created a server — he can see it, but I can’t see it from my console. I tried searching for the server by name, but nothing comes up.
Also, he can only manage to host a server after 3–4 attempts, while I keep getting an error message saying that the global servers are full and to try again later.
We tried creating/hosting/searching for the server at the same time.
For context, I have cross-play enabled and all the necessary settings turned on.
Is this a known issue?
He’s on PC and I’m on Xbox Series X (another friend on PS5 has the same problem).

Whenever I did play 2042 which wasn't much. I would always go into this and unlock guns/attachments this was very convenient. They could either do this or revert like in bf4 and have attachments be tied to kills which wouldn't hurt either since they cant get it right with weapon xp. And the weapon masterys you get when you get all the attachments if they go kill based.

Just look for a new BIOS update for you mainboard model and version.. If there is a new one, just update your BIOS via USB Stick.. If there is just a new update with a (BETA) tag next to it... don't install it.. only ne new and stable versions 🙂
