I found that the BF6 hardcore toggle adds some things on top, like ammo discard on reload and reduced feedback, so rather than just enabling the hardcore toggle, I've gone through the settings manually and put together a hardcore mode the way it worked in BF3/4

Boatloads for older gamers simply can't keep up with the younger gamers and since the sbmm in bf6 is a joke there's no place to rank up guns properly for them. Unless they put bots back on. Visually, given the same FOV, running in BF6 feels subjectively faster even if the numbers don't agree.

Just like how people hated BF4 servers with fake playercounts, servers still did it because it worked and got people playing, even if everyone hated it.

Imo DICE shouldn't have completely pulled the plug like this, out of the blue, and instead given the PvE players an option to play with bots while still incentvizing verified portal experiences to be bot-free.

And as I said, it made seeding servers easier. People will very often choose unfun farm-gameplay over what they actually find fun. This is very well known in game design, and something that game designers have to take into account to actively prevent it from happening. Players often try to optimize the fun out of games, and it's the job of game designers to prevent that.

I highly, highly disagree. Most people don't want to play with bots, but the way portal is set up, seeding a server is very difficult without bots (which is an issue).

Obviously bot servers had the population, when those were the only ones who were able to be seeded. No one wanted to join an empty server and wait for ages until the server filled up to finally start playing (since the game wouldn't even start until the server was half full). Especially when there was higher pop server available.

That fact alone made non-backfilled servers simply impossible to seed, because people had the option to start playing immediately, even if it's a less fun experience.

Backfill isn’t just a preference for some it’s the only way to keep verified servers alive in those conditions, without bots those servers never even reach the threshold to start the match which means people either leave or don’t bother joining in the first place and alot of players aren't going to sit in an empty server for three hours hoping it seeds they will just leave the game and go play something else

while you might be right that bots weren’t everyone’s “first choice” they made it possible for a lot of us to actually play the game that is a huge difference between design theory and how players actually behave in smaller regions.

The point about low-pop regions is valid, that's a valid concern for all the people in those regions. It's a tough situation really. For me personally it's an improvement to portal, and actually makes portal worthwhile for me to use, but I do recognize the issue you bring up.

I used to host servers in BF3 and BF4 and being in Australia it took a minimum of 3-4 hours to fully seed on a weekend with a dedicated server community, i was originally against bots when they announced them, but then i saw the potential of them when it comes to seeding and it is so much better and i changed my mind,

Trying to do research on rulesets and option in the BF6 Portal creator to figure out how to keep Full Experience for Guns, progression etc while still allowing for Ai to fill empty seats.

Most of my games that I've really enjoyed is Vehicle Health x3 or 4, Vehicle respawn Extended by 3 or 4x (Focus on keeping and destroying a vehicle as an asset).

Also turning of Sprint strafing and Sliding for more tactical approaches. Also lengthen the time it takes to capture and neutralize flags while increase ticket counts by x2. 1h matches.

They are in old experiences (at least the verified ones) that were created before the change. They don't give weapon xp tho. You get the match completion XP and they count towards challenges (the ones that are not bugged).

Bad company 2 and BF2 had pve. Bf3 was also easier to get custom servers up because I could mass invite people from my recent players. When I couldn't do that on Bf4 or Bf1, I couldn't get enough people on my server to start it. Backfill keeps lobbies lively when there are fewer players. In the first week of Bf6, my server was at 8-12 human players most of the time. 5v5 Rush isn't fun to me. However since I had backfill on the map was filled up and the games were fun and action packed. By the second week my server was almost full on and off for a few days. Since full xp was disabled last week, my server slowly died. What we're going to end up with is significantly lower number of custom servers that are backed by large communities that will be up and full. Average Joe like me wouldn't have a chance of getting enough people to join on a regular basis to have a full server when I want to play.

If this is what they wanted all along they should have communicated this to us initially, and further not launched the game with full progression in portal. If they had done that, I'd be disappointed but I just wouldn't have bought the game and would have chalked it up to EA just being EA again. This was a step beyond, they basically entrapped people into buying the game and then pulled the rug out once they got sales. The main problem here is EA setting a policy in place and getting the community excited and then changing policy 2 weeks after release.

The grind was more fun back then, because the game itself was from its pacing different. It is very quick in comparison to Bf 4, Bf 3, Bf 1. It dragged some of the cod people into it and the lobbies devolved into this sweatfest on small maps. I really enjoyed the grind on Bf 1 for example, but don't enjoy it in Bf 6, because the gameplay is so much faster.

This is also a short sighted comment. I and others have no problem with grinding when it comes naturally and when the gameplay is fun. Unlocking things shouldn't force a player into doing something unfun for an absurd amount of time. Beyond some of the ridiculous challenges, the requirements to max out a gun in terms of attachments are significantly higher than BF3 or BF4. BF1 used a different method entirely, partly because they were limited by the time period, but that's another discussion.

I'm not someone averse to grinding. I played 1200 hours of BF3, 1600 hours of BF4. I also have played 5000 hours and counting of Garden Warfare 2, across 3 different platforms, 2 of which I achieved max rank on. If a game is fun I play the hell out of it. In the case of GW2 I haven't had anything to unlock in those games for 3 years yet I still played it for 600 hours last year alone. Players shouldn't feel the only motivation to play a game is to unlock challenges. A game should make players want to play because the game itself is fun and engaging. That's the way I feel with GW2, and that's the way I felt in BF3 and BF4. I had 65k kills with the P90 alone in BF3. Didn't matter that I didn't have anything to unlock, I played that game day after day just because the competition it offered was fun as hell, it had good maps, weapons that felt good, and great overall gameplay.

Community servers did not have bots backfilling in Battlelog days too, but matchmaking - server browser was way better. Now we have 2 pools , official and portal and browsing is terrible experience . So many hate Battlelog back then, now they have way worse experience, Karma all i can say lol

I always loved Battlelog, and I say that as a console player. I thought it was so cool that I could find a server on there and click join and it would put me in the game on my console. On top of that, having all the stat tracking, loadout management, platoon management, etc in one place in a browser window was very convenient. Never got the hate for it.

Another problem with current Portal is we actually have more than 2 pools. We have official and Portal, plus we have the different crossplay settings. Additionally if you turn crossplay off, as a console player it limits you to only the particular console you're on. The settings should be either only console crossplay, or console+PC crossplay. There is no reason to have any setting to limit a player to only Xbox or only PS lobbies.

Plus official is just dogwater in general. No persistent lobbies, no set rotations. Everyone told them how bad 2042 was in that regard. The old server browser system was fine and everyone liked it. On top of that if people didn't want to use it they even had a "find a match" button that just put you in the game mode you wanted.

I understand some admins abused that, but they already have kicking and banning for admins which can be abused far worse than team switching so what's the difference.

I like map vote as an option too. Keep the ability to have set rotations, but map vote would add some variety and unpredictability if some people preferred it. It would just have to be programmed in a way that makes the same map play twice for Breakthrough and Rush servers so you can play offense and defense.

Players abused 2042's Portal throughout its entire existence. We told them to implement something similar to Verified Modes. They did that for BF6, hence why everyone thought it would different.

You can more reliably host games on portal now, I haven't seen the global quota error as of a couple weeks ago. I think the BF6 launch week coincided with that big AWS outage which BF6's servers reportedly use, so it's possible they were related

but only game modes that are identical to or extremely similar to official playlist gamemodes can receive XP, so it's a functionally dead and useless part of the game in its current state. Its only use case that I've seen is (maybe) getting better ping for players in Asia and Australia

The older games have server browser and a quick play button. Both 2042 and BF6 have quick play. For a casual player idk. I don't know that there are many servers still up in BFV, you'd probably have more people playing BF1 even. BF6 has AI servers but you would have to find them in portal browser and you can't level anything up on those.

Yeah BF6 started that way but they took it out. Everyone is mad, no one knows if they'll bring it back or not. I had 2042 but removed it due to the secure boot thing but found out i can enable it. Although i haven't download it back. Bf6 is ridiculously expensive, 1/10 of my salary. I have delta force on my pc that is not bad at all, i have some fun on it. But it's not battlefield quality. I also have bfV installed (sadly it doesn't have vs AI mode). I couldn't get into Delta Force, it seemed like 2042 lite but worse. If you have fun with it though and money is an issue, then you might want to stick with that because it's free. BF6 has some problems right now, and you could wait for those to get sorted out and it might go on sale for Black Friday or Christmas

BFV is the game I played the least of in the series. Guns seem more consistent in BF6 than in 2042. There is currently a netcode issue in BF6 though that affects time to death, so it feels like you're dying instantly because all damage registers at once.

As for vehicles and snipers, it depends on the maps you play. There are several maps to minimize your interaction with both. Some people also run infantry only servers.

It has both, but quick play won't put you into any of the portal servers. So unless there is a temporary infantry only mode available from the main menu, you'll have to search for a server with that settings under community portal server browser.

no, AFAIK from playing around with the editor and reading docs: the editor only lets you add on to existing maps using common assets or assets from that map. you can't remove existing objects from the map and there's no actual custom map building.

Oh admit - The struggle was real, but working with Portal games, did help make it easier. However, without portal, I really do doubt the most people would have got such numbers in real game, this century.

However, I do like challenges. It would be nice for maybe a "Badge" achievement - if I did something really hard over time, but I didn't like equipment being gated the way it was.
