the makeshift hardcore mode for portal sucks too, because they remove ALL hud elements including the hud elements for aircrafts which you need to be able to actually shoot

What does the " Hardcore" switch actually does?
I was expecting that it is a shortcut for all other settings (friendly fire, no hit direction indicators, no minimap), but it does say anything and it doesn't switch does options at all.

Personally i don't need to publish it to test it locally.. I just save it unpublished, then in the main menu in game go to the commutiny section and click on "My Experiences" and you will se it. When you host unpublish experience only friend can join the host server. You can click on "Host locally" if you don't care about friend joining

The server just went up. In terms of gameplay itās like any other battlefield. But in ours itās more the community, we run servers for 3 live service games and weāre a safe community to play with your friends and grow as part of a broader community

The tools are there to do some interesting really custom stuff if you want to dig deep into everything but common obvious stuff that you might want to do is extremely difficult as a result because they don't have a way of tweaking the existing modes

In Portal, it continues over but apparently Portal is stuck at 30hz where as the official games are at 60hz... So Hardcore game modes are a lower hz? š¤·

only custom experiences you can play locally, so when I make a breakthrough with zero vehicle respawn time that's not custom and needs to be hosted online. Trying to make a custom experience i guess without the SDK to edit the map, there's no spawn point or anything
I've tried about 20 different "vehicle testing" experiences that other people made and they're all the same, just in the middle of the map with bots and a map screen that doesn't work

Give me a few minutes, if you're running into the issue where it says global game quota, just keep hitting host and it will work after a handful of attempts

You just need to save the project (not publish it) then you can launch your game go in the comunity tab in the menu, then click on "My experiences" and you will see it there to host it

Portal maps are not showing up to some of my friends, and others can see and join without a problem. if you try to join as a squad some people aren't getting pulled into the match and have no way of joining because the servers aren't showing up.

im assuming there is a way to do it under the rules/scripts as well but its confusing for me.
Is there some sort of in-game console that logs the output of the mod that's running? I find it difficult to debug issues in-game with my script using messages.

Iām trying to figure out if itās possible to make a rule set that basically scales with human player count. So say starts off with TDM, but when 15 people join, it changes to rush after that round is over. After 28 people join, it changes to conquest/escalation. Is something like this possible or am I reading it wrong?

I don't get why they didn't containerize the 'server' so we can self-host. Idk how hard that'd be, but honestly, this is a disappointing design that will cause them to expend money (server costs) for no gain. They need to rethink their approach about portal, because it's vital for the longevity of the game. I hope they spend some time post-launch dissecting what went wrong.

its really just sad how low this game has come since bf3/4 days... i mean the quality of those games was 100000x better than what we got now. Maybe not graphics wise but the content/ the overall game/ progression/menus/ stats pages etc.... those were COMPLETE games. What we got is dogshit. maybe scrap this portal garbage and focus on making a good game not having the players make the games themselves

i dont think BF6 is dogshit in any way. i find myself thoroughly enjoying the game. Combat is fun and just what i remeber from the bf3/4 days with new elementrs sprinkled on.
The portal mode seems clunky but the amount of creative control you get if you just sit down and read and learn how to use it is 10 fold.
It's definitely head and shoulders above previous entrants to the seires. I played a bit of modded BF3 and that was a nightmare to get working

I appealed but no luck. Crazy coz my k/d was like, 0.9 (very meh)

portal in bf6 is split into three parts
- Godot
- Portal web editor
- In game server hosting
Godot is used to place pre-defined assets on the map and configure them, it is only used to "place" them on the map
then you "export" them and attach the exported json in "Portal web editor"
In Portal web editor you can also add custom scripting and also configure the modifiers (team size and such)
In game is where you host the server

Combat Area

1 - Sometimes when I try to equip new parts to a weapon, the game won't allow it, even though I haven't reached the maximum. Please fix this bug;
2 - Map rotation is broken or just very bad; sometimes the same map appears twice in a row;
3 - Weapon progression is too slow. Seriously, I got 70 kills and only leveled up one, ridiculously slow;
4 - Some weapon parts don't provide improved stats or simply don't display them (Example: SMG muzzle brake).

i have about 20 hours in the game, im level 31 and got one gun to level 50, makes it worth it ( it sounded unimportant but it makes the game worth it. if i leveled to fast or "finish" the game to quickly it would be boring and nothing to chase
But right now it's feeling like a job.

why does it say ive recieved these 12 codes for the ea error but i cant see them in my inventory when i look at my boosters
Doubt they will be in inventory .. the event pass will be automatically applied and the xp boosts should be in the xp boos section of challanges.

The top line of the XP Boost window is the activation time left if nothing there then no XP boost enabled. The 3x3 below is where the boosters are and you just click on a booster to activate it.

You should be seeing it in the dev console I reckon (enable it in settings > hit tilde in game), but I haven't gotten it to work in portal servers yet. The console works fine in regular MP, but not for portal for me at least

Guys, can someone explain me how to make an HQ where you can select a vehicle to spawn in? Or show me an example? Also how to rotate the camera on deploy map, its always scuffed?
Okay, go the console to work, think I just had to restart the game or whatever. Tried console logging during ongoingglobal but yeah nothing in the console. Console.log is also not a function of the console. It tells you to use list, but I haven't found a way to scroll back up in the output, so I have fuck all idea what commands the list spits out. But I tried searching for log and console and what not but those don't exist and aren't valid commands. I also tried searching in my documents, appdata (local, roaming and locallow) and the game's install directory to see if it maybe wrote a log to file somewhere, but I can't find anything there either.
I have a sneaking suspicion that there is some console or something we should (eventually?) be able to access somewhere where these logs are written to, ór that it's something they use in their internal toolchain that also does the compilation for them to the final TS files, but I have no idea how that shit works.
I'm also low key upset they are not dropping that tool chain btw. Now we have to go and roll our own set up so we can have classes etc in separate files and folders and merge it all together. It's silly.
I did figure out btw that you can import the code/modlib/index.ts! The block builder in the site allows you build stuff and then convert to code and that code shows that the block builder itself imports the modlib, so that's good at least. I still think it's a bit fucked, but hey, it is what it is.

For the camera - insert the "DeployCam" object to the scene, select it and rotate it -90 on the X rotation axis to point it down. Its pointing straight ahead by default

I finally figured how to transfer the map from the godot to the portal website
It is, I'm trying to show some UI to make sure it works, but I can't even get the UI to pop up when a player is deployed and it's not working. At this point I'm starting to wonder if the editor is even working properly. Even using the block editor I can't get shit to pop up
The map editor is aggressively mediocre and could use a plethora of new features.
You can't remove many existing items, you cannot add assets from other maps, you cannot edit the terrain to fit your needs. There isn't a blank canvas either (apparently it's in the works?).
Many people have compared Portal to Halo's Forge but Infinite's version is so much less restrictive, letting you create maps from scratch from a large collection of assets that can be placed without restrictions.
I know this is BF Studios' first stab at something like this but they could definitely make the editor more powerful.
I understand that there's some sort of instancing going on with the map assets but that can also be done after a design is ready to publish! Get a list of all the assets that have copies and boom, instance them! I do have to admit that I have little understanding of how their system works. But I know that it IS possible.
Why do you want to import json into godot?
Doing that I can see how the normal gamemode is set up so I can replicate some parts like the deploy screen

I have no idea tbh, haven't been doing the spatial editing much, I've just been working on code stuff. But if you look inside of the mods/ folder in the SDK, there are a few example projects there and the tscn files are exports from godot, which you should be able to load up

There are. readme.html in the SDK root and mods/* holds the example mods. It's just not as detailed as we kinda need it to be.

export it from godot > go to the portal editor > go to maps > add the base map that you changed > in the map rotation column click the trashcan to remove the spatial data. Then check "include base spatial data" and then upload the export you got from godot. Then save the experience and then you can play it
But thats automatically in the background. The real upload is the publish with check

I suggest you load up a default map again and see how its structured. YOu have to have qn HQ_Spawner and you gotta put the spawns under it. Then you gotta go to your Inspector of HQ and add infrantry spawns:

Try const msg = mod.Message(eventPlayer); instead. That will print the player's name. Custom strings like "Hello world" seems like they have to be declared in the strings.json file

I was trying to finish this KOTH gamemode and map I'm making, but I'm about to throw in the towel. Its all basically brute force/trial & error to get things working with the lack of documentation, but then poor logs and possible bugs make it so you dont even know where to start when debugging.
Not to mention even if you get all of it working, good luck hosting it because of the server limits.
Portal servers being limited to 30 ticks and no xp for custom modes (cant use default gamemodes for custom maps) sucks too

You don't have to wait for it to be published. You just have to save it and it will show up in "your experiences" ingame when you go to host a server

Its not a true map/level editor in the sense that you can quickly jump in and out of testing the map, because its been done through Godot. Thats why you need to launch into the game to test it.

Things I learned:
- you can add an
import * as modlib from 'modlib'at the top of your TS file to use any of the functions inside of modlib. - You can use strings inside of your code, HOWEVER, you can only do so for strings that are used internally in code. If you want to show stuff to the player, you need the
.strings.json - You can make functions that are otherwise not async async without issue. So
OnPlayerDeployedyou can just make it async and it'll work still. - I still have fuck all idea why my old code didn't work, but my current code works fine. But it is what it is.
I have no idea why the code is so damn finnicky, but it is what it is.
Then try your code out onplayerdeployed or ongoingglobal or whatever. Once you know it works you can move it to onplayerjoined

So in the example of Barbiepuppenpressfehler they are using mod.Message('ending') for example, but they have a key inside of their .strings.json that is called ending, and this does work. You basically need to use either mod.Message('<key name>'); or mod.Message(mod.stringkeys.<key name>);

Okay, so your issue is actually the way you are using mod.Message.
In your .strings.json you have this;

But then in your code you do:

You are expecting the game to go "oh you want to show the joined string, but then localized to either german language or english language". But the game doesn't actually do that. The game doesn't seem to have that feature baked into the mod.Message function.
When you do mod.Message it literally tries to do this:

Which does nothing because it's not a valid string. If you want to do localization, you're gonna have to somehow get the player's language config (I have no idea if you actually can, you're gonna have to look at the index.d.ts to see if that's even possible), and then in your OnPlayerJoinGame function you do something like this;

Actually come to think of it, maybe what's happening is that we aren't seeing the JSON because the game, before rendering it to the UI does some sort of regex or whatever to replace stuff between {} into some sort of parameter or whatever? I think I saw some entries in .strings.json files that include {} to insert a variable, a bit like sprintf

@versed cedar Hey would you mind giving me some feedback? I created a test mod that just shows you what inventory slot you have equipped every 6 seconds and it turned out to be pretty annoying. There was no easy way to get the active inventory slot, and to show the message to the player I have to create a string definition for every slot. I feel like there should be a way to just get the name of an enum but idk. Would appreciate if you could look and tell me if I'm doing something dumb š

I think I see what you were intending to do. I'm assuming it's causing some sort of stack overflow type situation? The time stuff in typescript returns milliseconds. Instead of dividing by 1000, try multiplying.

@proud trellis and all the DICE users in here: The truth is that BF6 is worse than 2042, which nearly killed DICE, and instead of learning from this, you just reskinned 2042 and called it BF6. Where did the real DICE programmers go? Take it from a long standing BF veteran that the BF6 engine is nowhere near the quality of the BF4 engine, the vehicles are cheap knock-off's of BF4 with no quality to them at all. The 2042 tanks were better, and the BF6 aircraft have no aerodynamics to them, it's like flying an oil tanker. This is cheap and disappointing, you should all be ashamed to put a DICE name on BF6. You have also killed the BF franchise with this, you won't come back from it, the BF that veterans like me knew, seems gone forever.

Portal mode depends on the experience you want. You're either making your own stuff or relying on others to know what they're doing. Plus having good active admins that aren't corrupted

You can try using AI, but the implementation of this typescript and the library is fairly unusual and uncommon. You're gonna have to feed it a lot of context in order for it to be remotely accurate. Also, I think a lot of devs, if not most devs, do use AI in their day-to-day workflow, so not illegal

I don't think there is. But there is some functions for reading when raycasts hit or miss...MAYBE those get triggered when you fire at something, but I have no idea in all honesty. It's a bit of a longshot (pun fully intended)
i noticed the same problem when i set the server to 32 players. if you set it to 48 or 64 players the bots will start the round

This is why i said earlier that the 2042 portal works BETTER than the BF6 one, with more options, including 200% damage without losing XP

The worse thing is they take off with all the vehicles, and the AI code balances the gameplay so the ticket count balances. BF veterans will note that games are not supposed to be so balanced, 1 team always dominates, its normal.

I think it was fully intentional to not market BF6 portal. That way as most people get round to checking it out properly in the coming months after playing enough multiplayer then there should hopefully be some updates to it
Yeah I saw the raycast APIs. I wanted to cast a raycast when you shoot but I can't find a "shoot" event. For now I am checking every frame if a player switches to their secondary weapon and using that as the trigger for when spawning the raycast

Realistically the way the wiki will grow is half through proper pull requests and then the other half mods/approved contrubitors copying good stuff over from reddit/discord to the wiki

If you had a proper server browser and no bots a group of 10 friends would be able to populate a server with ease. But now with quick play and portal being separate we get no players so it will forever be a bot xp farm

on top of this, the 4 man party system of teaming up, players should come and go into a server as they like, and play with their friends at any time, not have to matchmake the whole party into a server and not be able to play with more than 4 friends, this is nerffing of the original teamplay style of BF

Well portal sure didnt get better. Theres an ability edit the servers settings alot but all the servers are the same and noone joins the new servers when u put up a new server
Have you looked at the Portal Website at all yet? Depending on the mode, you can click "Create new" then select any of the verified modes, e.g congquest and have a play with the numbers in there, not sure if theyres a "number of players to start" variable yet
