Portal is the right way - either join a BC2 server or create your own - populating servers with real players in portal is a pain unfortunately 😕 but you can use PVP ai to fill the server at least

The portal editor is rather easy if you just want to create a standard BC2 Conquest server 😄

1. Open https://portal.battlefield.com/experiences and click "Create something new"
2. Select Core - Conquest as Game Mode
3. Select the Maps you want to have in the rotation
4. Go to Modifiers - AI -> select "PVP AI" at the AI TYPE modifier
5. Go to Restrictions - Teams -> select BC2 for each team
6. Click finish at the bottom right hand side and specify a name and description
7. Click save
8. Click show code and copy the code if you want others to be able to host this exact same server (e.g.: AA7PWT) - (FULL XP - 24/7 BC2 64P Arica Harbor Conquest - just created by me)

In order to start this server and play on it:

1. go to the portal menu in game
2. select HOST
3. Either click on your created "experience"/server image OR
   (4. On the top of the screen select the "Experience Code" tab and type the 6 character "share code" - e.g. AA7PWT)

Easy as that 🙂

You can't control "kick" at the moment, but you could implement, that they get killed or damaged if they are camping.

because people play for their stats and themselves, not for the win or for the team. It's just infuriating really.

Like, I guess the reason they all not go into TDM is because they know then everyone on those servers is up for the camping and killing...which means they cannot get as good stats as throwing explosives into the objective area to farm the poor souls that actually are trying to carry their team on their shoulders.

It also is kind of impressive how "dumb" a lot of the players are by now, like I've seen enemies jump right into the middle of my team full yolo mode and get away with it since they not even realize what the hecl is going on, don't know how to read the map etc...but hey, they are the "pros" with their 50:2 stats and obviously it's not their fault their team lost...then they trashtalk the medic for having negavite stats and rant how the game would not reward "skill"...that medic is like 100+ revives and most objective points in the team

Hmm... The XP values shown on the webpage are not necessarily what is happening in game as the webpage and game are developed individually.

Having pvp-ai PLUS some other modification restricts XP a bit though.

I finally watched a YouTube tutorial while in portal creator it helped iron on some small confusions. My only problem now is why my server went from full xp to restricted when I just changed maps. Can’t figure out how to go back lol

Actually you just have to select pvp ai... They will automatically fill empty slots of players or leave accordingly if a player joins. The slider is really just for PvE ai, as those will stay for the whole game and take away human player slots

As soon as you enable AI and any other setting, you're XP will be restricted. That's an ongoing issue since launch, when many people abused portal to grind XP 😕

To get a pristine experience with full XP, you would really have to start from scratch

i agree. the game definitely is not as good as old battlefield games when it was just dice before EA and criterion and the 30 other companies they added to making the game worse, but the game is decent its too bad that the community like you said is such losers looking for a K/D ratio instead of team work and capturing objectives and like you were saying they pat themselves on the back for the team losing by 1000 tickets but their K/D was 50:2 from lying on a mountain on the outskirts of maps and scoping spawn areas the whole game. they need to bring back admin kicking campers and teams being able to vote players kicked so we can actually have fun competitive conquest matches without teams winning every match by thousands of tickets repeatedly the battlefield community is plagued with selfish call of duty losers who want to ruin the battlefield experience

you can totally adjust the vehicle numbers in portal - just select a Custom base game mode e.g.: Custom Conquest. Then under restrictions - vehicles you can enable certain vehicles and specify the number of them

When you create an experience, in the Modifiers-AI section select PVP-AI in the "AI Type" modifier and you're done

I don't know xbox... but the Game UI should be the same as on any platform... so if you open the portal category from the main menu and select host you should be able to go to the tab "Experience Code" on the top and then enter the code of your experience?

After every update, the portal experiences need to be re-saved. Either by the author or you need to create a new copy. Unfortunately there was an issue that experiences couldn't be saved after 4.1 update. Meanwhile experiences should be able to resave and host again. Notify the author for resaving in case they missed it

no, that's probably another reason... portal servers that use the logic editor or certain modifiers will limit xp and prevent unlocks (to prevent xp/unlock farms). When you hover on a server in the browser you will see the type of xp it grants (Full, partly, restricted)

Thats the mastery Restriction, I think edited servers get mastery restricted.

If a Portal Server uses the Rules Editor and changes anything in the game it automatically changes XP and restricts the mastery

Experimenting with portal

Scenario: Recreating similar conditions to BF1942 on available maps (BOB and El Alamein)
Under the standard settings, fighter aircraft machine gun fire has no effect on halftracks. The original BF1942 allowed hit damage on these vehicles.

I'm new to the custom rules section and have tried to piece together conditions and then action, however I'm not familiar enough to get it to work.

Pseudo code:
Attacker (check condition - player enter aircraft)
If player is in Spitfire OR player is in BF109

Receiver
If vehicle is SdKfz Halftrack OR M3 Halftrack

ACTION
Bullet hit affect health of halftrack

Naturally I'm not looking to beef up aircraft guns to decimate half tracks, however it would be useful to cause some minor damage in order to harass halftrack drivers.

I tried some conditions and actions, however I think not fully grasping the full usage pathway yet means that I am not able to achieve this outcome.

Any folk have a similar function/rule set I can adapt?

So I create a server that is PvP with AI. Leave everything else default. Works fine with limited XP but weekly missions enabled, but I want to add the old maps with 2042 soldiers, the moment I turn it from default soldiers to 2042, everything goes fully restricted? why? I know you can't change anything in the rules editor but I feel like it should allow us to play old maps with 2042 soldiers without restricting everything?

I feel like a good middle ground would be to make xp limited if you have bots and change the health modifiers or something so you can't just make servers where you can be a god mowing down bots.

Like I can't even make a Rush XL server with bots because changing the reinforcements restricts the xp and I think that's way too strict.

Are there any currently known pitfalls for Portal that we know prevent saving? I know in the past it was changing text fields. I just don't know if I'm missing something. I keep cutting more stuff and condensing redundant functions into subroutines. But, I think I've gone as far as I can.

Funny thing is, it has saved before with more blocks than what it has now. So, I don't know.

If you have subroutines, split them up into smaller ones. By doing this I can save with around 8k blocks

yeah, feel like making 2042 soldiers default on all maps shouldn't be something that sets everything to completely restricted. It's technically not a rule change. When Dice ran the portal servers with all maps but 1942 weapons and soldiers it was so much fun.

Some settings in portal should not be tied together, for example, why on earth does disabling Minimap disable bringing up the main map? Who thought that was a good idea.

Count the amount of team kills
Slowly reduce the players counted team kills over time (accidents happen)
Reset their counted teamkills after a longer period

ways to penalize them? perhaps reduce their damage using the counted variable, kick them after X teamkills

There really needs to be a "Server Filling AI" function under the AI setting in Portal that gives Restricted XP for killing bots, but changes to Full/Moderate/Restricted XP once players join depending on the XP setting of the experience. I cannot tell you how many times I've tried to start a Portal server with Full XP and no bots - no one joins, because no one wants to wait around for the server to fill, especially on 64+ player servers. It would really help servers fill up and incentivize more people to try new Portal experiences instead of the same servers that are full

or just rework the AI setting to do this by default, that would work too I suppose

Yeah, it's just a matter of adding a new Subroutine for each of the 3 Map Detection subroutines and putting in the settings for the maps.

I am planning to support all maps however Manifest and Flashpoint have issues with the teleport function being broken however I do plan to update it to include them. I also have a Beta layout for Exposure set up.

For objective based missions, overall kill missions, repair missions, and revive missions, I recommend you play conquest. For kills with specific weapons like the tactical category weapons, snipers, pistols, etc, choose a game mode that’ll help you get those said kills as you see fit. The battle pass missions are very easy and straightforward, as some of their missions don’t require a lot of grinding. Portal game modes can help as well.

my issue was the fact that there was a patch and the game didn't update.
For some reason it did let me into the game several times, after it finally gave up and told me i was runing an old version

updated it and everything was back.

No it's a bug with portal i don't know what triggers it but the bug bypasses the Restricted XP making it Full XP instead but it's only temporary though i am pretty sure EA/Dice is trying to figure out what is causing this bug so they can fix it.

I was trying to unlock the M16A3 last night in portals. I chose a server that was only running BF3 maps after playing for like an hour on the regular portal maps and only playing on like 3 BF3 maps. Anyway, I joined a server from the server browser that was only BF3 maps and was on fire. At the end of the match I had 92 kills and I was pretty excited, until I got back to the main menu and saw that not a single kill counted towards the kill requirement. Portal is the best 2042 mode ever cuz I have real soldiers instead of specialists but most of players who never played or hated 2042 never got a chance to realize this mode saved the game after it launch
