also, delete cache folder in the 2042 folder in documents and look into repairing the game, repairing EAC and using DDU to do a clean uninstall of your graphics driver

I had a bug with EAC that goes across all EAC protected titles that caused something similar to what you describe. You might want to look into if you have this happen in your Windows event viewer at the exact time of the crash.

So the only way it "really doesn't" take that long is if your personal subjective definition of time differs from the person you replied to

It looks almost like I'm just striking the ground with my axe
