That's an opinion. I've played every single Battlefield game. I disagree. Classes made people choose a character based on its gun which limited their inclination to use the class's gadget, or they picked the class for the gadget and then had to put up with a gun they didn't like. Specialists and open kits are 100% an improvement to the Battlefield formula, allowing everybody to play exactly the way they like.
