The main problem i had with BFV i didn't feel that a WW2 game... I felt that is a game of an ERA from 1910-to 1950. There were so many weapons not made it to the game, and there were a lot of weapons that just didn't fit in the gameplay. But i loved that game, it was fun with friends.

it will not. they need to remove specialists, but they will not. Some people do not understand this. For example, in BFV I played assault with vehicle destroyer capabilities, my friend was a medic, and my other friend a recon. I destroyed things, the medic helped us to stay alive, and the recon gave us respawn point and spotted things.
if we found a vehicle, he baited to a spot, and I destroyed it if I could. Now... everyone has the M5 Pointless rocket launcher, no one is a medic anymore, no one is a recon anymore...
In Previous battlefields you need to be "Us"... in BF2042 just there are many "Me", and with specialists, it will not gonna change... the specialist name describes you as a "Me"

Yep this is probably their biggest core gameplay problem aside from map design. The recent update that shows what your other squad members are using is a step in the right direction, but encouraging players to work as a squad should still be one of their biggest priorities (think they said they're working on it in their recent dev update.

The fact squad management wasn't there from the start though suggests they were quite happy with the "me" mentality as you put it, which is really concerning

Before specialists we had cosmetics for regular soldiers, sure. But having a specialist creates a personalised element and gives them a sense of "character" which I guess makes people feel more compelled to splash out cash for.
