I took a nice 5 month break from battlefield, only reinstalled it a few days ago along with BFV. Played a few rounds of 2042 since the repetitiveness had worn off over the 5 months. But most of the game modes are dead on US-West. Literally only 1-2 servers on the flagship modes, that too with bots most of the time.

BFV had more servers active yesterday, but still infested with cheaters on PC.

The lack of assists-counts-as-kill is especially frustrating when you're trying to kill vehicles. You dump all your explosives and fight through their emergency repairs only for some random sundance nade to steal the kill and you get nothing for your efforts

Ya, and this is not a new issue either. They eventually addressed this in the last battlefield game - tying unlocks to scores and then giving points partial vehicle damage, vehicle part disables and even adding points for when the enemy pilot bails. In 2042, they kept the force bailout xp...but that's useless since it doesn't translate into helping you unlock stuff for the plane.

I think the late addition of VoIP just showed me how superficial so many people in gaming are. The amount of people who complained about VoIP and the amount of people who actually use it just shows me that people just wanted an easy target to hate on the game. Yes, it should’ve had VOIP, I 100% agree, but man, so many people pretended like it was something they cared about and portrayed it as this thing that the absence of which was a game-ruining experience, when I can count on one hand the times something productive has ever come from having VoIP

I just thought it was hilarious that a AAA multiplayer shooter in the year of our lord 2021 launched without VOIP and took 6 months to get a basic, barebones version of it implemented. It's crazy that games are more social than they've ever been yet DICE somehow managed to release a BF title with arguably the fewest social tools of any BF game in the past decade or so (no clan support, no multi-squadding, no lobby persistence/server browser for AOW, long delayed VOIP etc.)

But that's all fails of the past, I'm very eager to see the fails of the future. Or hopefully not, but my body is ready for continued fails at this point.

BF4 infantry buildings has one extra floor and a roof. If the building took too much damage the whole thing will collapse on you and you had this urgency to get out the building it was just so cool

There just isn’t any 2 story houses in the game, outside of the ones on manifest.

And nobody ever brings up how good the ground deformation or foliage destruction is in this game. You can collapse EVERY tree. Even the huge ones. The ground deformation is also amazing, craters everywhere. Not decals on top of the terrain like BFV, but real indents like BF1
