The 40mm has no advantage over the 50mm it's the clear stronger choice in every situation

there's some value to releasing a larger bugfix update before the summer update - if there are issues that were missed in testing, they will be seen in a public release and you can loop back on those for the season 1 update

testing, no matter how thorough it is, still can have gaps

plus the more changes you are making in a single update the more in depth testing you have to do on systems affected by all those hundreds of changes.
If you're just changing a few things, you can do a higher level "regression" overview of the whole product instead of a deep dive into each system touched by hundreds of updates
