Devs need to stop any work at bf 2042, play every bf game for at least 500 hours per title, to understand what bf is and what makes bf a bf game. After a year they should look at their own title, 2042. Than they gonna work on it, they take their time, we will wait 2 or 3 years np. By the time it does honor to the name, they will re-open the servers and "re-launch" it.

but as far as I know BFV had a lot of problems as well during its lunch, I don't know exactly because I was out of the gaming world due to working reasons, but I remember that people were complaining a lot even for stupid things like "there weren't female characters fighting during ww2".....I mean it's just a game, I don't see any problem to have female characters.
and then they fixed the game also with the feedback from the community.
last august/september I brought the game during a discount period and I enjoyed playing it.
maybe 2042 will have the same, who knows, we'll see during the next 2 years

Bf 5 had lots of problems. Than they pulled out and did a final fix that fixed 95% of the game. If they just didnt give up.. it was a slap in the face because bf5 was like bf 2042 in terms of the concept: a evolving battlefield across updates. Bf 5 had tides of war, basically what we call seasons now. It was supposed to give us a realistic tour through world war 2. Like in year 2 they added japan and usa to the war, next would be russia and the eastern front. It had so much potential. But we made our peace with their decision because we had hope the next bf would rock, and until than bf 5 was in a good state to be enjoyed. Now we are not in the same boat but in a worse situation

Not gonna lie, i enjoy both titles. I just have low expectations now. In fact, i expect them to pull out sooner or later. They now push some updates, do the 4 seasons to avoid being sued (battle pass part of collectors edition). If it meets their target they continue, if not they will pull out like anthem and bf 5. With MW 2022 (sequel to MW 2019) coming this year, i'd say enjoy bf 2042 while you can because the fairy tale ends soon

guys this is the reality: nowadays is hard to develop games for several reasons, so unless you are a really huge fan is worth to wait few time (a month or two) for some bug fixing and then buy the game

I think I simple fix is to do a “Mil-sim” specialist. These character models are faction exclusive, uncustomizable, but they have two gadget slots, and are easy to identify.

DICE doesn’t need to scrap specialists entirely, but giving the player the option to just be a generic army grunt could do a lot more for the player base than they might realize. We just need to get more gadgets.

Like, its pretty clear that the operators and battle passes as part of their season is gonna be their business plan to make profit. They seem to follow fortnite business plan: add new stuff with seasons, tell a story through seasons (which they confirmed during interviews when they had the question why the game has no single player)

yeah ive noticed its really cpu heavy, i have an rtx 3070, and on low settings (and high suprisingly) i get like 70-80fps max, my cpu is a i7 10th gen, but still yeah performance updates should be handy

you still have to wait for dice to actually allocate your own server as an instance of the game, its still dice that is connecting you, im sorry if your wording didnt clarify, but dice's program (the game) is the one connecting you to the server, even if its on a localhost address. mainly because localhost is just an address same as any other. so you still have to, yknow, connect.

I'm not sure that's how it works, because even offline it will instantaneously launch your own 'server' to play with bots around with. Not unlike BF2042s approach where DICE creates a server for you and you have to be online to connect with it.

mainly cause this is part of my job, but also because when you connect to a localhost there isnt any delay because polling a local ip is nearly instantaneous,
for this game's coop mode, it is not a local server because it is built to allow other individuals to join that server not just yourself. rather than hosting it locally and relying on the individual to have a port-forward connectable system, dice handles it itself, allowing any person eligible to join to your server.

Main difference is that in what you mention before, you're creating a local instance for local play, now its creating an external instance for external play
there is a difference, and benefit to the former, as the former is for connective play. this game is not supposed to be an offline experience, and as i already stated, if that was the intention of someone playing the game, they should have bought a different game

portal is essentially the traditional server browser, but with older games incorporated, hazard zone is their mock idea of a br, which i dont personally believe should have been included on release
the aow mode is conquest and breakthough (basically rush without mcoms)

whereas this current inplace system does actually create a server also instantaneously, but is meant for cooperative play, within online groups, not a restricted offline server
the waiting period is purely there for the ability to literally wait for people to join.

Still, I do not think DICE's approach in BF2042 is optimal. They heavily advertised the ability of players to play singleplayer bots which was a huge drawing point for people such as me. Only to then find out at launch it was basically online-only. It should have been an option whether online or offline play with offline being playable anywhere but with no progression, while online was playable only with connection but enabled progression.

But they did make it pretty clear that the game is always online.
