I think it just needs some brushing up. I have been playing since the original 1942 came out. Honestly it did not meet my expectations...but if you look at it from a neutral perspective and think about how covid ruined other studios games as well. This is fair. The reason there is so much toxicity there is because they don't feel heard. A game they were incredibly hyped for (in no small part due to DICE's marketing before the release) but suddenly there was just no gameplay. There was the heavily scripted "gameplay trailer" but until the open beta that was all the players had.

Even to this day, Battlefield 1 has better graphics and a better overall identity of what it wants to show you. Gameplay would have to go to Battlefield 4. Gunplay would have to go to Battlefield 5.

Map design in 2042 is some of the worst I've seen in recent shooters and flow is a part of it.
