Another large issue is how tone-deaf EA/DICE is towards it's community. A large portion of the Battlefield community is asking for these changes (and has been since beta), but EA/DICE have doubled-down on the stupidity because of the large investment required to change a core function of the game such as specialists.

People need to enjoy the game first in order to consider spending money on MTX. It's clear a majority of the Battlefield community simply does not enjoy 2042 in it's current incarnation.

Unless EA/DICE is willing to make the investment to change some of the core elements of the game players will steer clear of 2042. There may be a surge of players for updates, but the player retention is really bad for 2042 as was demonstrated by the free weekend, and the 50% off sale less than a month after release.
