There is 0 logic behind them shifting BF into a BR game after the reception of BFV. Especially with how lackluster Firestorm was. And the fact that EA already has Apex. People in this community were already calling BFV a “battlefield killer.” Making a BR specific battlefield would have killed the series. Flatout. I do not believe even slightly that they would do that. Never mind how asinine is it to think you could drastically change an entire game in production in less than 2 years. There’s just no logic behind it.

I think it gained traction due to the fact that BF2042 does have a lot of elements in it that resembles things you'd find in a BR. But that is more due to the fact that EA and DICE tried to reach a wider audience rather than the game being intended as a BR from the beginning.

I was dreadful at this game at launch. But I started doing a bit better after patch two. But the aim assist still seems to only activate every now and again, instead of constantly. Funny enough, aim assist works very well on glitched out “dead” soldiers than it does on alive ones.

Battlefield is one of the most popular games on release just from nostalgia I reckon. Lots of people have played battlefield, and it continues to be released so people continue to pick it up.

Yeah they did get that 1 patch out, I think I read it was like 140 issues fixed? pretty good, and it's great they did that before the break tbh. And I like that they got a break so soon.
But I think they should've organized it to keep development going for significant issues.

I'm not sure how they're structured by delaying release by 1-2 weeks, or skipping a couple of issues, so that you can send some teams onto break early and maintain reduced staff might've worked out better, because some issues might be significant but relatively easy to fix and without a minimum of staff there they could pile up.

I studied game design in highschool, and I had the fortune to visit DICE to test out BF4 with my classmates, roughly 5 months before release. All I remember was that they REALLY wanted to show us the tower falling in Siege of Shanghai, but the whole game kept crashing when the event was triggered.

The way it's designed is going to determine what data it shows though. What's really missing in terms of raw data is the fact that you can't see the stats of people outside your squad, but it does show more info in regards to your own stats than other scoreboards have done in the past.

No it's not. EA is the publisher, they back the project with funds and give them deadlines. The deadlines were shit, that's on EA. However It's on DICEs upper management for starting this game off as BR centric and then changing gears half way through, all while trying to keep some of those mechanics in place.

I don't blame individual developers but ignoring DICEs leads roles in this is being intentionally ignorant. Anthem, and Mass Effect are persistently accused of failing because of EA when EA gave them full control over those projects. EA has also stated numerous times that it let's DICE handle their projects with full control.

They overhauled a lot of the UI, polished some gameplay, and I'm not sure what else. It's in a better state now, but access is limited to a closed beta you purchase for $15. I got mine free since I was an initial supporter in 2018, didn't refund my key at the time

I think the colors on HDR make my display more "warm" in tone, but to me the blacks still look... well deep black because the pixels used to represent them are physically shut off, no matter if it's HDR or SDR
