It's not that the game lacks content, it's just that all the content is fragmented in such a way that everything is underwhelming. There are a lot of guns, but they're divided over the 2042, bf3, bc2 and 1942 modes, and same with maps. It's... A kind of baffling decision. I think they should add some more attachments to the BF3 guns and add them into the main modes

Here's a tip, there's no map rotation because you get thrown out and put in queue again for whatever reason. But, before the game starts, you'll see when it has found a game, and it will go to this loading screen where you can see what map it is at the bottom, and you can cancel it. It won't load the main menu, it will just throw you back into it immediately. It's not a perfect solution, but it's a sort of duct tape workaround

I've poured about 160 hours into the game so far. It's... Pretty broken, but the gun play is really good, and some of the maps, while clearly not finished, are pretty damn good. Especially if you stick to a sector and only leave when there is no action there. The game is a lot better when you stick to a sector rather than run from point to point.

The main issue is that all specialists can run AA, and that all anti-air is lock on heat seeking, which means no aim needed. It makes for very boring dogfights as well. But fewer people use AA, and more people use recoilless now.

I recommend you look it up. A hero shooter consists of unique hero’s with their entire kit built around their character (2043 open loadout is basically opposite of this). On top of a hero shooter filling strong roles like tank and support, those roles being vital and promoting an extremely tight team gameplay. Both of which are also not in 2042. Literally 2042 only has distinct models with small influence on their loadouts.
