they all worked on the new dx12 env for the 1st year of development. I don't think it's the the engine so much as understanding of core gameplay. People still play CS even though there are better looking games that exist. The gameplay is solid at the core. I think of the best games as a well-worn piece of wood...like the countertop in an old bar. you can see the years of wear and tear but instead of being shit, it has character and stood the test of time. Or ancient roads in Italy or something lol...you get the idea (i hope). They just "worked" just like the best games. There's so many layers of novelty in modern games because people think graphics=immersion and I disagree. I'm more immersed when I understand my purpose within the core gameplay and act accordingly. I'm not immersed just existing somewhere on the map for 40 minutes staring at the weather effects
