I mean they definitely affect it, DICE just had to patch their UI to account for the changes so it actually works. It does now, tbf, but they don’t do anything better than the old class system for me. At its best it doesn’t necessarily do anything worse but at that point it’s change for the sake of change. It’s more restrictive cause you only get one generic gadget instead of two, and the specialist gadget (on top of being questionable useful depending on who you are) is restricted to the one character. The one improvement is universal weapons, but with the class system you could get decent variety based on what what gun classes were universal like in BF3 and BF4

But generally, at least as long as they’re named characters, it’s not a direction I prefer the series to go in much further, but that’s just me. I’ve seen a bunch of ideas for compromises (like allowing traditional classes with more generic gadgets but restricted weaponry, on top of specialists with their more unique gadgets but unrestricted weaponry) that I think could work

Interesting. Don’t get me wrong, as much as I overdefend this game (and BFV for that matter lol), there’s definitely room for improvement in a lot of places. I just personally am looking forward to seeing the game grow. Take launch BFV and endgame BFV, they’re almost entirely different experiences (well, to an extent).
