Because they needed more time to finish the game, it’s EA that seems to not take any accountability, they give all of their Dev teams extremely Crunchy deadlines, and chose to release an unfinished game, and then decide to either have their Dev team finish it after release if it sells well, or they make them abandon it if it doesn’t, and start on an entirely new game. It was said from the get-go, by EA, that EA was taking core developers away from DICE to work on other games. The problem with this, the Developers EA got them to bring on, aren’t developers familiar with Frostbite, and have to be taught it while developing the game. So, you’re not only working on the notoriously most difficult Game Engine to design for in the world, you’re also learning how to work on it as you develop. EA are a terrible company, and DICE did the best they could with the 15 months, and out of place Developers they were forced to work with.

A nice compromise to this in my opinion, would be to make Legacy Conquest a permanent part of AoW, which would be 64 players w/ 2042 factions on the 6 legacy maps.

This way, AoW gets a 64p mode permanently, and also finds a way to integrate the 6 Portal maps into AoW, without needing to remove 2042 gear + mastery progression

Yeah - I'm a bit torn on the maps. The larger, emptier maps remind me of BF2's maps (which I loved) but BF2 found a way to keep things interesting, and in part I think that was due to vehicles spawning ON the map at control points, which made it easier to get a ride from point to point.

That, and there WERE indeed some maps in BF2 that had shorter distances between points: Karkand, Sharqi, Jalalabad... which 2042 largely lacks

I don’t think they’ve made a BF game with better gameplay since 2. 6 man squads, Squad leader was the only spawn point, so every squad wanted a squad leader who was competent, which made all squads more competent than they would be otherwise. An intricate Commander system that involved legitimate strategic tactical thinking, and good communication with your team. That game put you in situations where you were no good by yourself, and could really only tackle objectives by being with a healthily communicating squad

BF game never had much consistency if you consider all titles. Carry over equipment was usually just the classes and basic shit like RPG, defibs, repair tool, etc.

It offers A LOT more to do than Warzone. However, because of that, it doesn't have nearly the same balance or polish. Vehicles really make the BF experience, so give them a try! Or, play an multi-vehicle role. Sniping is more consistent than in WZ too, as you can take defensive positions and keep a cozy distance for most of the match. Infantry stuff is pretty janky in comparison. Prepare to die a lot
