Why are the devs absolutely fascinated with having capture points at the top of skyscrapers which you need to take a lift to? Lifts were in the Metro and other historical BF map years ago and they're a great mechanic, but why do all of these new, massive epic all-out-wars appear to be won or lost at the top of a skyscraper? Just seems like they have overused the trope. Plus its near impossible to win as attackers.... AND, the lift mechanics are broken too - can't drop smoke and have it follow you up there. It just stays at the level you throw it. So lifts are a bittersweet edition. We seem to have this setup because someone in the dev team liked them so much in BF4 that they've now overused the whole verticality thing no matter how much it may be uncalled for...

Nonsense it took a lot to kill tanks in BF3/4 particularly with limited players using engineer class and tank defensive load outs. Same went for C4, you either took risk of getting close or driving jeep or quad at them. It took a lot more skill that chucking c5 on a drone from a safe distance

See, here is where DICE and EA made their fatal mistake that has caused the constant tonal whiplash in the series for a decade.

They should not have stopped making Bad Company games. They should have kept BC and BF core going together as two different types of Battlefield. The more arcadey and wacky BC, the more grounded and core BF. Like Forza and Forza Horizon.

Vehicles there handle 100 times better, even the damn artillery truck felt so nice, even if driven outside the roads. Also ammo and medic pouches out the ass, so ammo isnt trouble. There are also some more unique gadgets like the mortars for example. And the atmosphere. In 2042 there seems to be a lack of any deeper detailing. Like Orbital on most places just looks pristinely clean almost as if nothing happened. 2042 has some nice gadgets too, and specialist unique stuff, but the lack of medic and ammo pouches rather grinds my gears.
