BF4 and 1942 still did not have the same core everything. The vehicles themselves were different in the many variations and strategical ways of utilizing vehicles in 1942. The spotting just simply doesnt place any sort of reveal indication above the player or anything. there were mutliple differences in this game just down to the engine itself having certain feature limitations. Their classes were organized differently obviously. BF4 condensed a lot of stuff but letting people alternate their assault class into different functions while 1942 had specific medic class, and anti vehicle class, a engineer class, recon etc.

For instance, bullet drop became a hugely oppressive mechanic in BF2, but was really not as heavy as BF1942 or Vietnam. There wasnt even really bullet drop, in those games, it was mostly for AT missiles and tank shells that had shell arcs over long distances. Snipers had spread even in BF2 whereas there wasnt obviously in 1942. The only bullet physics that started existing in the older games all started with bf2

Also the gun physics themselves, they existed in BF4 but didnt really exist in 1942, the guns went through obvious different balancing, even the classes behaved differently
