This game is an example of critical failure. DICE failed to properly make a true battlefield experience (The game is battlefield but the execution is incredibly flawed) from design to technical standpoint. EA pushed it out way too soon and possible encouraged cut content or changes to focus on what they believed the current market is.

Er, they definitely brought in leaders from other areas. But There were still leaders in DICE that worked on BF4-BFV. A lot of the smaller devs were on Battlefront 2. The game is a design issue from the ground up of DICE trying to reinvent the wheel and I think EA also plays a heavy role in that.

It's not like devs sit at a table and decide what they wanna work on, this isn't valve. At large studios like this (and even the small one I worked for) you are delegated tasks. I agree the people who worked on those tasks made mistakes, but the core issues with this game are leadership decisions that lead to this.

So the company I worked for was contract. We'd get hired to make a client's game. (We didn't do much push back. End goal was make the client happy)

But in general these studios put a lot of money into market research. but with franchises it's a bit weird. They trust the brand often and get drunk goggles so to speak. Far Cry is a good example of this on a smaller scale. Just regurgitating the same concept over and over and not really innovating on the mechanics/design.

Definitely for new IPs there is a heavy push for market research though. They want to test the waters in some capacity. Sometimes it's just self-evident and anyone can see it (Survival genre push in 2015, BR push from PUBG/h1 after the arma 2 mod).

But on the original point. EA in this case is our client. Dice has to make them happy.

Dice works for EA. EA probably wanted a BR, Dice probably wanted a traditional game, but you make your dad happy.

They make a BR, find out midway through development no one wanted this. They then take everything and try to fix it into a normal conquest setup and traditional experience. And due to this late change we get limited content and they brought in DICE LA a year and a half ago to develop portal to add content to the game. The scrapped BR was turned into Hazard Zone to keep the usefulness of the design.

The smg 08 the hellreigel, some of them existed on the airforce only (selbstadler, mondragon) etc. so some of those weapons just never existed on the field but they give it to us because it existed in the era and it was fun to use. Other weapons they completely shredded the weight that it was (M1917 was 100 pounds) but it was just a medium machine gun in the game

No you don't understand, if you change your class in bfbc2 vs bf3 temporary mode for example, you automatically spawn without having the time to change your weapon or gadgets, same thing for weapons or gadgets, if you change one of them by pushing the "X" button, there is a bug that automatically makes you spawn, like each time you change something from your soldier you spawn
