They go near future and only have 22 guns at launch and prolly add 2 every 2-3 months. Base attachments were unlocked with kills, but battlepacks included cosmetic grip variants like potato and folding grips, while optics were a mixed bag. You’d get the American, Chinese, and Russian optics (whichever wasn’t part of base progression for that weapon) in battlepacks, along with FLIR and IRNV, plus different laser variants, like green, tri-laser, and laser/light.

If it was just grip variants and maybe optics (some are definitely better than others, so some predictability for earning them is nice) in battlpacks, it would have been better, but having FLIR, IRNV, and such in battlepacks was meh.
