I can agree that some guns will eventually phase in and out of relevancy. Due to the simple fact that the guns will be a hierarchy in itself.
But I disagree with the idea that just because some of guns look the same and fire the same caliber doesn't negate the fact that alot of them can stand out and be unique.
ACRW, The AUG and AN94 can stand out from the crowd of 5.56 and 5.45 caliber weapons.
I definitely agree that if the gun can stand out in its unique way it'll benefit the game and the players.

BF1 has that fucking 20 Round SMG dude. It’s a laser beam while firing from the hip. Kills instantly by the feel of it. Went on a rampage with it. BF1 is not badly balanced but that doesn’t mean it IS balanced. There’s a lot of guns in BF1 that are locked behind DLC that you cannot get.
Having a lot of guns is just gonna make it harder to balance shit and make the game enjoyable but then having more guns means “more variety” there’s always gonna be that dude that will use the meta and will stomp you until you use the meta.
