Except it is, because the overall quality of games has taken a nosedive, especially after the 90s to mid 2000s. Indie games are pretty much the only ones left that capture that essence and quality anymore, because everything else is riddled with microtransactions, awful business practices, absurd grinds, and "corporate" gameplay.
