Battlefield has always ran with a class based system. This promotes teamplay, because people are forced to make sacrifices for the class they play as.
There are no sacrifices to be made now. And sure, this system works with friends, but Battlefield V absolutely perfected teamplay and squadplay with strangers.
All of that has been removed with this game, and sure, for another game this works, but in my opinion there was no genuine reason to get rid of classes when that's the style of game BF has always tried to be.
