The suppression system was present in BF4 and Hardline. I believe it was present in BF1 as well, but for explosives or something. And you keep it relevant in BF because it is a core of BF. It is one of it's identifying tropes which helps make it unique from other games around it, as well as the fact that it has worked as a system for just under 20 years

Suppression makes sense on paper, but in practice is one of the most frustrating mechanics I've ever had the displeasure of experiencing in a video game.

If all suppression does is vignette your vision or make it harder to see where you're at/going, fine, whatever, but if it affects gameplay it's terrible every single time. Literally never played a game where this was a fun or engaging mechanic.

I have two big gripes with BF2042. One has already been addressed which is both sides look the same and it's sometimes hard to tell who is on your team.

Second gripe is regenerating HP.

If you want "medics" and "engineer's" to stand out and be more squadlike. Get rid of the regenerating health.

Make medkits / repair tools and heal dart guns the only way to heal or repair.

My biggest complaint with BF2042 is the fact that I just flat-out don't like the specialist gadgets. I found myself not using them very often no matter who I played. Grappling hook was alright, heal gun was awful, turret was awful, drone was...fine...I guess...

If they added Generic Soldier or something and gave me 2 gadget slots (or just locked the gadgets to their specialist, like the grappling hook being locked to Mackay), my entire problem would be solved. It just felt like I wasn't able to be very effective without a respawn, whereas I could cover a bit more ground in the previous games.
