Battlefield doesn't need to become something else in terms of gameplay to be successful. It has never needed to do that. Not this drastically.
I have no issues with Specialists in terms of cosmetics, personally, but tying them to gameplay this much, and taking out class restricted gadgets, is not needed for the game to be successful.

They added new features that really fit the game and for once supported the game with tons of accessible content, albeit some behind a paywall. BF2042 removed a lot of features from the last 2 BF games, without a need for it. They added things that, imo, don't fit the series
