The specialist is the role you want to fill. Just because it doesn’t say “you must do this” doesn’t mean it’s bad. The team recognition I can agree with to an extent. Again we only played with 4 and only 4 models not variations of any skins. If they add better UI elements to help with team recognition it’s fine. Immersion is a separate thing and could get that but also it’s an arcade shooter not a realistic one. The specialist isn’t the issue but mainly UI elements missing or need to be adjusted to help.

I’m not worried about it. It’s an argument agains the class system. People that want to slay will always pick meta weapons and specialists. People that want to support their team will pick someone that fills the role to support. Class system and locking weapons or gadgets won’t fix the game. The maps are likely designed around all these skills and same with their gameplay. You will always get more team play with a squad of friends than any random group.

but when anyone can equip anything there is no reason for the K/D nerds to work with the rest of their team. There are no limits they have to overcome. They can pick the meta weapon and heal themselves and spot w/ grenades. This is why teamplay in the beta was dead outside of pre made squads, there just is no incentive. Its the BF4 medic problem but 10 fold.
The class system, by giving people limitations, encouraged people to work together in order to overcome those limitations.

Medic wasn’t the only class that had these issues in BF4. The whole classes played selfish most of the time unless you played with friends. It’s how it is every BF. Specialists didn’t kill teamwork it’s the players themselves that did. Specialists only allowing 1 gadget force more people to do teamwork. You can’t take out tanks and resupply yourself. No C4/ammo box.

BF1 had a really solid class system. So did 1942, and BF2. Id also say V did if it had class based appearances. 4's issue was classes w/ several, contradictory roles, and in these other games I rarely ran into the problems 4 had.
There is no setups that can do everything but there are certainly setups that can do way too much in 2042
