Not really. There has been modes added then taken away. Rush wasn't in BF1 or BF5 for instance and added later. BF5 got rid of the cool operations feature in BF1 that played on multiple maps and told a story. BF3 destruction was not as good as BC2s destruction etc

I have been looking at some spawn data from #BattlefieldOpenBeta and a lot of the bad flag spawns were definitely caused by a bug where contested spawns only kicked in when attackers had majority of players on a flag. It has been fixed already.
