Non-combat mechanics are really a letdown. As someone who plays medic in every game, Battlefield 2042 was very disappointing in that aspect. With this new gameplay, I don't feel like waiting for a revive or reviving someone in the game, nor drop medkits or ammo packs. Picked McKay and simply played it like CoD or drove a tank and rack up 60 kills.

I enjoyed BFV a lot more. I'll be buying 2042 nonetheless anyway.

Yeah, similar to Conquest.
The main menu has three main modes, All out War, Portal, Hazard Zone. Portal and HZ are labeled as unavailable at this time.
There were no lists for TDM, Rush, Defuse etc so I presume there are preset modes on Portal.
So the traditional BF can still be experienced with our OG soldiers without specialists on portal servers👍🏻

I always thought that the All Out Warfare mode would consist of a bit more than just Conquest (maybe some of the other modes like rush, etc updated a bit), and like you said, portal being just the "Throw Back" kinda mode. I would personally be a little bit surprised if all out warfare is just Conquest and that's it.

I may be in the minority (maybe it's because I only started playing the BF series at Battlefield 4, I may be one of the young ones but I love the game no less than the vets out there), but the specialist system doesn't really bother me at all (aside from the lack of differentiation between teams, that needs to change). I think once more customization options become available we're going to see a MUCH larger variety of characters on the battlefield. I haven't even been able to get into the early access on Xbox. I pre-ordered, but ironically, pre-ordering caused the beta to lock up for me. Before pre-ordering, I could press A at the title screen, and it would attempt to log me in, then throw up a message telling me to pre-order. Since pre-ordering, I get zero response to any controller inputs. Lack of response to pressing A to log in, I could understand, if the servers were overloaded, but I can't even locally switch profiles on the console with Y.

Portal will run on bf2042 and will more than likely be quite far to the feeling bf3 had @arctic grove @cosmic plank I don't expect much out of it, other than using the older guns and gadgets. Movements need to be hella changed to feel like bf3, and they would have to port back their old animations too, otherwise it'll just feel like another game with ported back maps

you will be able to turn on the "classic" mode for guns in portal so they would imitate the same feel they've had in their games, you will be also able to edit whole bunch of settings so in short - just toy with the settings and you will have simulated BF3 enviroment in BF2042
