I would say the overall skill ceiling was higher in V with 4 you just had one very strict discipline and that was prioritized way disproportionately to everything else. In V you have decoupled free look which is amazing. The speed control serviced a very small crowd and was out of whack with the rest of the game. I mean helicopters didn't have that, nor did tanks - only with jets did you have this hyper demanding facet. It was to the detriment of the game. Anyone should be able to pick up a vehicle and with some practice do reasonably well. But with jets it was just absurd.

I absolutely agree that you would see better pilots in 4 because once they were forced to play on more even terms, V lost its appeal. In 4 since you had BR immunity from vehicle based AA missiles so once you mastered speed control you could just go in an dominate. With V you had to contend with similar challenges that everyone else does. A lot of these flyers, while no doubt skilled, were egotists and were cancerous to the game.

I think we have common ground on the infinite quick repairs. I always thought that they should either have a ever increasing multiplier where each use increases the reload by 1.1x which would have had good symmetry with the attrition system OR they should have made it so that you can't repair/rearm while enemies are in the sphere of influence of the repair area.
