I don’t like any of its maps. They’re not enjoyable to me. The only ones I think are alright are Shanghai and Zavod (and graveyard shift.) It didn’t feel like an upgrade to 3. It had a lack of destruction compared to previous games, levolution was a really meh gimmick. And the gunplay wasn’t anything to write home about. Majority of the guns felt the same. I see 4 get so much love for its variety in guns/attachments. But people used the same guns and attachments constantly. It just felt like a transitional game, not to mention it had the worst launch out of any BF game. After BF1 it just feels old and outdated. I’ll never understand the hype. It just felt meh, and it always will.

They just didn’t feel good to play on. A lot of the times it felt like they were trying to be more of a spectacle than they were trying to be good maps that flowed well. I also dislike that lots of maps had large indestructible objects. I get why, but it’s still annoying. I like maps like St Quentin or Arica Harbor where you can just destroy everything. It feels like war. (Golmud works in that regard)

To be real, a lot of the maps I like just feel good when playing them. It’s hard to explain why. I just feel like it flows well, and you’re not constantly burdened by any huge event. It’s mostly infantry but still has tanks and helicopters. I feel like it blends well. And yeah, graveyard shift was a free DLC. I loved GS, simply because it was one of the most “night” feeling night map I’ve ever played. It’s so dark you can barely see your own gun. Forced you to play completely differently, use IRNV and Flashlights. I even played on the CTE when they had Golmud and Shanghai night versions, and they rocked.

Rouge Transmission, the map is huge, aesthetically, it’s cool right? Huge dish and shit. But majority of it is snipers on the (weirdly shaped, very fake looking) mountains. It just feels like moving from flag to flag is a burden on it. And I feel like a lot of the size of the map is unused. The Dish is the main point on the map, but there’s no reason to be on top of the dish. There’s one flag underneath it, and it’s probably one of the only good spots for infantry players. And I know I’ll get flak for saying this, but the rest of the map is catered to vehicles. There’s just not a good balance. It’s too open. It’s a classic example of BF4 map design. It looks cool, but it’s a chore to play.

Battlefield maps should have a decent for the most part. Now, balance is usually hard to achieve. You could counteract a lack of balance by say, making maps that favor 1 (say map A favor foot soldiers) but have another 1 that favors different (Map B favors vehicles) that way you have options depending on what the player wants
