Because I think if your making a WW2/WW1 game which delivers the atmosphere and insane graphics and really good base depiction of war(in a fun way) it's best to keep it authentic to the actual war so it becomes a good solid WW2/WW1 game for any fan of WW2/WW1 that is also a BF fan(and also to avoid the backlash for not including things or showing a unfair depiction of some parties). I think overall bringing it back to older times wasn't too of a good idea. Sure the shooting won't be realistic or the gameplay but that's because it can't, it won't be fun. With the more cosmetic things like the people involved or parties it would be much more beneficial to actually make realistic since it really doesn't change anything and more people might like the game if it's "more immersive". You don't gain an audience by alienating one. Was it really worth for example for BFV to have more women in the game for all the backlash? Was it worth it not adding russians for the bad reviews? It seems like it'd be much simpler to just stick to it being a generally accurate depiction than to just ignore it and tell people to not buy the game if they don't like it.

It is a acceptable concern I think but portal has a focus on weird random gameplay and not everyone will want to for example do 4 soldiers vs team of 20 or have a game with hardcore bullet damage or fight 64 eods against 1 tank. I think there will be decent amount of people who just want to play the actual game and maybe dabble around in portal a bit
