I have also experienced the same problem where singleplayer had lag at times in Battlefront 2.
and here is a explanation from someone on Quora about why AI is cpu intensive
It is CPU intensive because each forward and backward passes involves matrix multiplications between the weights of a layer and the activations of the preceeding layer. The same applies for convolutional layers in a Convolutional neural network. Convolutional layers may have dramatically fewer connections than a fully connected layer, but you need to apply the convolution operation several times per input. The CPU intensive part is mitigated by offloading the operations on to a GPU with much higher parallelized throughput. Still intensive, but no longer for the CPU. However, the CPU still needs to take part in loading the input data. Deep Learning usually requires large amounts of training data. This will take its toll on the computational resources.
