A game offers you a certain universe, in our case it's real life 2042, war and all that stuff. Knowing that you expect certain things from that setting.

Now this is where the tricky part beggins:
The developer has to make the game interesting.
Some (mostly unrealistic) things can be added without breaking the immersion: faster and better guns, rendezook, certain vehiclesand ect
But some things can ruin that immersion: ridiculous skins for example

And it is absolutely foolish to say:

"Well X is unrealistic and it's in the game so we might as well add Y because it's also unrealistic just like X"

BF1 was actually one of the more crazy BF games. It had stuff that A didn’t exist beyond paper, it had the craziest vehicle strength from the first iteration of tanks. They had portable mortars. horses that took tank rounds and AA rounds without dying. Body armor that was effective and a guy running around with that on plus a 80 pound MG08/15 with him. Planes that held multitudes of bombs even tho back then the way they dropped bombs wasn’t as accurate or fast, and let’s not forget the fact that gas was condensed into grenades. And masks could just be plopped on. Also the weapon skins that would have never existed. @whole comet so yeah BF1 was crazy. Crazy fun tho
