depends on your region. If you're NA or EU, you should be able to find games pretty easily in the evenings. It had a rough launch and the core BF community didn't like the slightly goofier take on a battlefield, but the game is very different now than launch

if you think of BF6 as really leaning into the core, gritty experience, 2042 really leaned into the "only in battlefield" part of the series.

those people are a pain, no doubt about it, but they can all be killed, and when they get killed they usually leave the server and cry, so it's worth trying 😄
SOFLAM them, fire Lissiles at them, snipe them out of their heli, wear the heli out with NTW-50 fire, catch them at a slow point of a turn with an RPG, etc, etc.

War Tapes narrows dynamic range (extent of highs and lows in volume), and distorts it to make it seem much louder.

Back in Bad Company 2, how it distorted the audio was considered much more immersive. As the engine was iterated upon, though, the sound distortion and artifacting became much more apparent.

IIRC there's a 3D Headphones mix which adds more positional information to the sound. I think that's what I run. There are a couple of in-game states (like being heavily injured, or flashbanged) which intentionally muffle sound, and there are bugs where vehicle weapon/engine sounds stay muffled, but on the whole the sound ought to be very clear

The Binaural mix. Intended for use solely with Stereo Headphones, and it will force Stereo when selected. Might pair well if you are using a Spatial Audio thing, but never tested it personally, and it was implemented before that was really a thing. 2042 preferred using virtual or native surround setups, though.

fwiw, in general I try to avoid running from point to point in this game, either call in a light vehicle from the laptop thingy, or use ziplines, parachutes to move to lower points. Being out in the open is rarely fun if you're on your own, on foot

aha. 2042 has 14 specialists, each of which have passive and active traits. There are so many ways to use them offensively and defensively, so it massively rewards creative sandbox strategies. That is felt to be cheesy/goofy by the people who like gritty, grounded Battlefields. I think it's how a game stays fun for 4 years, but what do I know 🙂

I don't play 2042 anything like how I did 4 years ago, or even 3 or 2 years ago. I keep finding new ways to play it, and I really appreciate that about it.

I don't think crashing is super common in 2042, but there's suddenly a whole bunch of new/returning players coming on, so any sort of whackiness could be going on. All I can tell you is that I play on an nvidia GPU with the latest drivers and apart from very occasional crashes in game, it's been stable.

ok, in Windows, open File Explorer and in the location bar at the top, type %APPDATA% then you'll see it actually goes to Your Username\AppData\Roaming, click on the AppData part and instead go into Local, you'll see some BattlefieldGameData directories in there. That's where things like shader caches live. Deleting those directories should be safe.

It's impossible to complete in the first week, so make sure you do the bonus mission each week. The bonus mission is the only objective that goes away after that week is over. The rest of the challenges stay so always make sure you do bonus to maximize

BATTLEFIELD HAS BECOME UNPLAYABLE . There's a problem in 2042 and BF6. There's a script in duels, I always get killed in 2 bullets even though I have the first shot on the low-level person, or with a lower skill level. It's become unplayable. There you go, you can't have fun being better anymore, the game blocks you and penalizes you so that the weaker player can kill you easily. It's a shame the way the video game industry is going.

Use the Waveform Bufferbloat test to see how much it or other things are a possible factor.

I was playing BF4 since people said it's most similar to BF6 and I'm going to be honest - I prefer 2042

Sniper rifles feel better in 2042. The bullet velocity especially with Long Barrel feels great to play with. I like playing Casper and spotting people. I enjoy that I can change my scope on the fly so that I'm not always glinting. I like that supports like Angel can revive without needing to take a defib - they just have it in their base kit.

Being revived is also less disorienting because of the UX design (third person to show your body, then when you're revived your character twirls around to face the camera direction, and then you regain control - very heuristic)

Gunplay feels significantly better than in BF4. In 2042 I can trust that my shot is going where my scope's crosshair is 100% of the time.

Idk man. I prefer 2042 over BF4 and I feel no shame over it. The specialists are just more fun to play and the guns feel significantly better to use.

actually the 10 caps might be pretty doable. Cos it counts neutralizes aswell. So load up conquest and each time you do a full from zero cap then it'll count as 2 points. So really you just need to cap 5 flags from zero

fwiw in C128 it's usually quite easy to capture the enemy's back flags, especially if you have other people with you. They'll mostly be distracted by the middle points. That's a decent source of caps if you're sneaky with a pondhawk or something

also grab a pondhawk at the start of the round and cap the unclaimed flags, you can pretty easily get two or three at the start of the round without any war happening yet

Hi everyone,
I’m having an issue with my GPU temps while playing Battlefield 2042 and I’d appreciate some advice.
My setup: RTX 3070 Ti + Ryzen 7 5800X. Last year around this same time, temps were completely fine, but now I’m noticing something weird: the hotspot temperature shoots up to 95–105°C, while the GPU core stays about 20°C lower. In the past, my hotspot was always below ~80°C, so this sudden jump feels alarming.
After few tests i've done some changes to lower the CPU usage aswell and trying to increase a bit the GPU usage instead i readed in a forum that making the graphic card work slighly more would make use of that electricity and redirect these excesive temps on the hotspot.
Spoiler: Didn't work.
The only major change I can think of is that I upgraded from Windows 10 to Windows 11. In-game I play with almost everything set to low, FPS capped at 120, and V-Sync off.
Is this normal behavior for the 3070 Ti, or should I be worried? Any tips on what to check or try would be super helpful.

AC9 for SMG, DFR Strife for LMG, Rorsch for sniping, SFAR or AM40 for AR, crossbow if you're feeling particularly toxic. For secondary the only sane choices are the BFP50 if you can hit your shots, or the G57 in its triple-shot mode if you can't.

Personally, I prefer it with Muzzle Brake for recoil reduction, but it can overwhelm if running around with it. Good as a hipfire backup sometimes, or with a dot.

yeah the DXR has its range, and the SWS has fire rate, and the XCE BAR is good if you are bad at everything about sniping, but the GOL hits different

Extra trivia for others: XCE is the Fast Bolt sniper. Use if you liked the T88 Sniper or some other close semi-auto option in past games, but the DMRs weren't cutting it.

Unlocking it is a pain, but once had, you can just go from there.

and re the Rorsch, its massively slept-on ability is the rapid-fire capacitor that's hiding in the plus menu. That can slap surprisingly hard against vehicles

Funy bit is, the 2042 GOL Sniper Magnum is potentially much more effective than its Bad Company 2 counterpart, at least if you had issues with damage on the original compared to the M24 and other BC2 examples.
