The trailer was great, but I'm a little worried about the fact that the graphics in many sections look worse than BF1 and then the building collapsing near the end of the trailer is ripped straight from the tech demo they showed before 2042 was revealed. So that part at least reeks of "Oh god we're being rushed by higher ups again, let's just put the tech demo shot in there to padd out the trailer".

I haven't played 2042 for a few months, and tried to get back into it this week. I saw I had to turn on secure boot, which I did. But the game crashes a few seconds into a match.

The only thing that's changed is I got an HDR monitor. The crash happens with both HDR on and off though. In Event Viewer, I see an error suggesting it's related to anti-cheat, so it's likely not the monitor.

Searching this channel, I see people talking about issues with a recent AMD driver. I have an Nvidia 4070 but AMD CPU. I have tried verifying integrity of the game through Steam, and even a full reinstall.

What else can I try?

I am GENUINELY curious as to why 2042 gets so much hate?

As someone who has played battlefield since BC2, I don’t understand at all. I still play this game regularly, and it plays great. Plenty of Battlefield moments. The launch was rough with bugs and playability, but other than the launch why the hate?

Heroesque characters are odd, but from a gameplay standpoint why is 2042 still hammered on? lol

It makes me feel like no matter what they release, the franchise is just doomed in general because of some peoples nostalgia.

I almost replied before seeing you follow up with this. I was going to say a lot of those issues have been since fixed, and I haven’t experienced any of those issues in recent times playing.

Other than poor taste from early launch, I still fail to see why people don’t enjoy the current state. Map variety sucks, but with the poor launch they pretty much halted content is my guess.

Windows 11 expects Secure Boot to be on by default, unless the upgrade version ignored that.

EA Javelin Anticheat's mandate, however, isn't just checking for Secure Boot presence and enablement. It wants some additional checks passed, and when they are not met, will throw the Secure Boot is not enabled exception all the same.

Also, you probably do not need to convert drive partition at all, so do not.

What you must set is Secure Boot Standard (Toggle between it and Custom to get the factory keys if need be, but for now ignore), set Virtualization On, AHCI, UEFI bios type, Legacy ROM Options Off, CSM Off, and OS Boot Type to Windows UEFI if the parameter exists; not Other OS.

If you have NVIDIA Maxwell (750 models, 900 Series) or Pascal (GTX 10 GPUs) architecture, use this tool before trying anything in UEFI settings to be sure you are truly up to date with those, and can safely turn off CSM in UEFI/BIOS settings later without a surprise black screen on exit and saving changes.

Locks down bootloader a little bit. Should in theory already be enabled on normal Windows 11 builds.

However. It might not be, or it wants additional checks passed before it believes a valid Full UEFI mode and Secure Boot mode is in use and lets the user pass. This ambiguity led to past issues caused by anyone doing just whatever they could find to attempt to restore compatibility. Even incorrect things.

Okay then. See if you can track those down and set them.

You may also have to do a factory reset on the Secure Boot keys. Did anybody run into trouble with fullscreen mode? Device, Resolution, Rate are all grayed out. Mode is stuck at fullscreen even tho it runs in windowed. I have a gaming laptop with a rtx3050. Task manager shows minimal use but the game still runs at like 30 fps on low settings. I've tried: Updating and reinstalling drivers. Forcing the game in control panel and windows settings to use dGPU. If i could i'd send screenshots.

From what i can tell, the game is still somehow using my iGPU, dunno how. It is maxed out in task manager after loading the game

no worries, just be aware this is nothing that you caused specifically, and is internal to Intel, the issue will only present itself in very certain situations, but this type of thing is a pointer towards that, best it's clamped on now rather than having a totally unbootable system

consider an rma for a replacement chip and at the very least you will have a chip which isn't degraded

Switch sound device detection from Auto to whatever setup you have manually.

From there, see about the sound mixing presets. War Tapes is the loud to the point of distortion and cracking audio mix, but others may be more preferable.

What I believe it is is a need to reinstall the factory default PK keys.

To do this, one must set Secure Boot Mode or Type to Custom, Exit and Save to boot into Windows, Restart and get back into the BIOS, set Secure Boot Type Standard, accept a prompt to reinstall and enroll factory default platform keys, then Exit and save to boot back into Windows. You are done with that part.

Some UEFI/BIOS settings require you to set a Factory Enroll parameter alongside Secure Boot Custom to enable the enrollment process. Do this, and undo it AFTER booting with Secure Boot Standard and enrolling them if you need to, by entering into UEFI settings one more time to do so. If it doesn't show there as a separate setting, you may not need to do that.

My mouse doesn't work in game. It works in the menu, it works to shoot, but it will not work to look around. It just moves stuttery and snappy like I am using aimbot.
