start tracking what it does when it does that & look for common factors

my 1st guess would be it's just updating the database or something

you can view connections it makes or cpu consumption etc. as starting points

using tools from sysinternals you can view what registry entries, files, etc. it opens as well

It's taking time because it parses the list of known and detected cheats trying to identify which one a client might be using before letting them play anyway.

The skin was removed. Now all skins and 2042 mode inclusions have to have some form of story backing to them, or be deliberately acknowledged as an in-setting joke in the case of Holiday Protocol content, any Good Company plushie and easter egg-related content, and any other easter eggs.

I had hacks back when I was messing around on free to play games, uninstalled the shiz, and tried hopping on battlefield for the millionth time and had some issues. I already typed my message so finding a bugs channel(s) feels like a lot lol

Also by hacks I mean ye ol' controller/mouse port via Daemon stuffs, but using the controller hotkeys on there is fun for other games. Compatibility with a better running check would be cool, or something to terminate the application. It's uninstalled but sayd it's running (many restarts and weeks later after initial issue)

I'm no expert on it but it should be running ring-0 like a anti-virus & looking for certain paterns of known cheats/hacks & then heuristics that look for certain traits like memory hooks

beyond that it'll run some form of ssh communication to the servers with some kind of checksum that is transmited at various times to ensure the anti-cheat itself isn't compromised

It seems like they threw a LOT of money at ricochet, with immediate success a few years ago. But as cheat makers came to terms with how to bypass it, it could be possible that they deem the time/investment needed to combat them is unmaintainable.

biggest issue is systemic for cod that is 3 different studios making 3 different games, and all using different engines, frameworks, integration techniques from other, ricochet is effectively having to manage 3 different games, then you've got things like warzone, which is it's own thing entirely, etc, but I suspect on a deeper level this is a case of higher ups not allowing them what they need to do e.g. enforcing requirements to actually combat them properly

it's ultimately a cost equation, and if you think holistically a lot of people playing cod are a massive audience, but you pay the price for that with endless cheats, or in the case of the older ones, people getting their machines ransomed
