Discovered a new issue, this time with the EA App. Its EA Background Service may be configured by default in a way that modern Windows OS versions (10 and 11) do not support at all, ever.

Its Windows Service was found to be set as Allow service to interact with Desktop for some reason. No Windows Service is supposed to be set that way; it was deprecated in Windows Vista, and its Session 0 function was removed and blocked in full in Windows 10.

Turning that parameter off seemed to improve 2042 game handling and hitreg considerably, but it is assumed EA Background Service would reset that eventually, or on EA App reinstall due to it being programmatically set to do that.

Incidentally found it when noticing how EA Anticheat's Windows Service can stop itself during loading and mounting in the Anticheat Launcher splash screen step of launching 2042.

EA Background Service process's Windows Service (Task Manager, Services tab) has an old parameter set, which is incompatible with Windows 10/11 handling of Windows Services. This is not a good parameter to set for other reasons as well.

There may be legitimate use cases for it, but they should not use that method.

The original reason for Microsoft deprecating Windows Services directly interacting with the Desktop, among other reasons, was to stop a malicious practice in those days (Windows XP) known as a "shatter" attack, where a malicious Windows Service used by malware could visually break and glitch the desktop.

It isn't seen now, but having a Windows Service set to directly interact with the desktop is still bad practice as far as MS is concerned. Oh well.

A very common way to die in this game is running everywhere

Usually, stop a bit before going around a corner, constantly look at the minimap to see skulls and enemy dots, peek angles smartly and always try to use cover

The game does not use horizontal FOV like how you are used to. It went back to Vertical FOV as is seen in BFBC2 and maybe BF3.

What I Dislike About Battlefield 2042:
Broken Hit Registration:
Bullets clearly hit enemies, but they don't register as hits. This happens way too often and ruins gunfights completely.

Unfair Spawn Mechanics:
You’re shooting someone, they’re about to die – and suddenly enemies spawn right next to them. It makes firefights feel chaotic and unbalanced.

Massive Cheater Problem:
There are cheaters everywhere. People hitting instant headshots with a crossbow from 600 meters – it’s ridiculous and happens far too often.

No Real Action Against Cheaters or Extremists:
There’s almost zero effort to deal with cheaters or even players with racist or far-right usernames and symbols. These people stay in the game for weeks or months without any bans.

Punishment for High-Level Players:
It honestly feels like higher-level players get debuffed on purpose. For example: I shoot someone point-blank with an LMG while they have a regular assault rifle, and somehow they always survive with exactly 1 HP. It's happened to me countless times, and it’s beyond frustrating.
