Depends the graphic card version. Old version like RX 6800 XT have problems with the new drivers in Battlefield 2042, those last drivers are mostly good for the new graphic cards

That's why I always advise people with older graphics cards not to update new drivers without first seeing what kind of drivers and modifications they bring.

The problem many people have with AMD is almost like having a Lamborghini without a driver's license. The graphics card is not enough, you have to update the Chipset manually, know how to configure it, and some more details. Unlike Intel Ryzen/Amd setups it has to be updated manually.

One thing I can guarantee, anyone who has a Socket am5 system,Even with a 6k version from AMD you can get more than 190 FPS in bf2042 with everything on ultra if it is well configured

Turns out I can isolate which BitDefender Online Threat Prevention feature is causing EA Anticheat to hang and eventually serve game bans for Service Disruption. Currently testing that now.

The bare minimum setting that is needed to enable the Threat Prevention feature (Web Attack Prevention; its webpage blocking intervention mechanism) is Not the one causing the hang on launch/generally, but one of its sub-features is, and those are either enabled by default or strongly recommended to be by the software if not.

Investigating further, and will update the forum post when I find the root cause.

The BitDefender Online Threat Prevention sub-feature that seems to be the culprit for EA Javelin Anticheat's hangs on launch, packet loss throughout matches, and ultimate serving of Game Bans for Service Disruption may be one of the following.:

1. The Encrypted Web Scan sub-feature. This is used to "Check the safety" of encrypted web pages, in the name of blocking connections using TLS certificates that are from untrusted authorities, or even blocking ones that are stolen certificates from legitimate entities. However, to do this, it is probably relying on a form of Deep Packet Inspection, that could be stalling or outright dropping potentially critical packets for EA Javelin Anticheat for a little too long, or entirely. Or at worst, it could be trying to get past or modify initial encryption to get in and check the certificates. Its compatibility with TLS 1.3 and up, HTTP/3, and QUIC protocol ways of enclosing TLS certificate information is unknown.

2. The Phishing Protection sub-feature. This feature "Checks every web page you access for phishing behavior." It is in the name of catching false and maliciously crafted webpages used to get session login credentials and such, e.g. the now-common Free Nitro or False Steam Community Gift scam pages. If it is interfering, then it would be because the login credential exchange between the Steam Client and EA App session tokens, or other handling as part of game launch sequence may be something it watches with increased scrutiny, or does not like, causing the hangs, packet loss, and eventual Service Disruption ban symptoms if left enabled.

Spotted a potential reason for EA Javelin Anticheat having issues in the current game build of Battlefield 2042 (Unrelated to past reports): In Steam copies of the game, it is not being automatically installed and updated as part of an initial game launch and related Steam InstallScript execution. This will guarantee a hang on launch at minimum, and at least a first-time failure to mount the current anticheat version. Second time might work, though.

For Steam users looking for a manual solution to mitigate this, one could do the following:

1. In Steam Library, right-click on the affected game's Steam Library listing. Click on Browse Local Files.
2. In its install directory, go to the EAAnticheat subfolder path.
3. Run EAAnticheat.Installer.Tool.exe. This is what the Steam InstallScript would execute by default, as opposed to EAAnticheat.Installer.exe.
4. Confirm the User Account Control prompt with Yes.
5. In EA Anticheat Setup, select the title you wish to install it for from the drop-down menu. For this example it will be Battlefield 2042.
6. Once selected, click on Install. Wait for the installation process to finish. It should take a minute or few.
7. Once Installed, click on Update. Wait for this to finish as well. This will update the EA Anticheat version to EA Javelin Anticheat. Steam copies of the game do not ship with the updated Javelin version of it by default, so it being executed—whether automatically from game launch, or manually as in this guide— is the default way for it to be updated properly.
8. Close the EA Anticheat Setup window.
9. Launch the affected game from Steam, and see what happens.

(This guide only affects the Steam version of the game. EA App Only copies are already covered by the page link there.)

For users who are still daring to use AMD Radeon Software Adrenalin driver version 25.5.1 in spite of its issues, a bug has been found that causes its in-game overlay to hang, as well as induce slight, but noticeable general performance issues.

If the Performance, Metrics, Radeon Metrics Overlay's Tracking settings have Frame Rate and Frame Time set to Visible (Red Eye Icon), these counters will not actually render depending on the game or circumstance. This causes the Radeon Overlay itself to hang on opening, and performing any hotkey function at all, even if the Metrics Overlay is disabled. Turn off their visibility setting for now.

For Battlefield 2042 itself, the Graphics API tracking visibility setting is also liable to not render in the Metrics Overlay. If you had visibility of that set as a custom setting, turn it off.

Bad CPU for 2042 (and in general) if it werre to work as 3D cache cores are intended, you would be limited to using 6 core only...which will heavily affect your performance potential. 2042 wants 8 core/16 threads or more for the best possible performance.

This is why people should ignore these 12 core, dual CCD 3D cache CPUs. Youre spending a lot of money to essentially use only 6 cores in gaming

The 7800X3D and 7950X3D both have 8 core CCDs.

7800X3D has 1 CCD, all cores having 3D cache. 7950X3D has 2 CCDs, 1 CCD with 3D cache, one CCD without. (Same story for 9800X3D and 9950X3D, CCD structure wise)

Zen6 is apparently going to have 12 core CCDs.

also if your machine has bitlocker you need to suspend it before changing any uefi/bios params because you will trip the bitlocker recovery and if you don't have your recovery key handy poof goes your data

Okay, what I was thinking of was the Virtual Machine Platform Windows Feature, found under Control Panel, Programs and Features, Turn Windows Features on or off. This is something Windows Security will check against as part of determining if the Device Security shows a "Your device meets the requirements for standard hardware security." message. Also, some users reported success after toggling it off and on again. To do that, Restart PC, and as soon as it shuts down, start spamming F2 and F10. Escape out of the Exit prompt, and use the mouse or arrow keys to navigate until you see Secure Boot Status or similar. toggle it and Exit saving changes to boot to Windows. Once fully booted and logged into, Restart the PC again, spam F2 and F10 to get back into the UEFI firmware/BIOS, and toggle Secure Boot Status back to Enabled, then Exit Saving Changes.

the darn clip doesn't show much sadly.. first the quality of the clip through nvidia looks terrible. the settings in the nvidia sidebar are set to 1440 60 fps but they are all greyed out and can't be changed , but the clip is in toaster mode. its on flashpoint too and i can barely make out the netbar numbers but no spike indicators lit up in the game also. the fps as measured by nvidia looks to go from 60ish to 40ish and thats about all but in the game when playing it looked worse ill keep trying to get a better clip but i don't know how to fix the quality it just records at whatever it wants, lol

i found that if you have ADS FOV off is glitched every time you die to fix i have to ADS then un ADS until i do really weird glitched view. mabe its that showing up some were else too

Well, apparently the automatic install and update method now has a habit of not working the first time the game launches, or even on repeated tries. Manually installing and updating the new EA Anticheat version via the included Installer Tool may offer one way of dealing with this, at least. Unless you had a different way of solving it.

Not sure on that, but I guess be sure that the EA Anticheat splash window icon in the Taskbar is Blue and not Black, as the Blue one means it is updated to the newer, termed as EA Javelin Anticheat version.

Those ones are more prone to crashing on 25.5.1 than others that support it. A small mitigation may exist (for stability in any game, not related to 2042 directly) in the form of setting the driver's Performance page's Tracking section's FPS category to not be visible, but...

The more specific advice for 2042 itself is to visit the page for your GPU's drivers on AMD.com's Drivers and Support page, go to Previous Drivers, and roll back to a version pre-dating version 25.3.1.
