I think it was Acog, slug rounds, and a certain muzzle brake made it so the shotguns didn’t lose range or have damage falloff. Essentially it literally fired in a straight line.

@dawn cedar @grim gust it was the 870MCS pump action shotgun. When using the slug rounds, the slugs would not have drop off range or drop off range so you could slap a sniper scope on it and go to town. Viking made a tutorial video on how to use it like a sniper rifle.

so i had the same problem just now, done some stuff to triage it and fix the problem, heres what to do:
open cmd and run winget upgrade, if you get a confirmation prompt press Y, but after youll get a list of programs like this, what youre looking for is if the version is older than the newest one, which if its the case (should be is what we're looking for), manually uninstall it fully via the control panel
after run winget install --name "EA App" and this will fetch and install the latest version, re-sign in, the issue should be fixed after

If you have no skills then AC9/PP29/MCS/SVK are good for different reasons

SVK two taps pretty much anywhere, PP29 has a ton of ammo and fast strafe speeds, AC9 is a bullet hose for quick kills up close, and MCS is like a 25m guaranteed one shot while ADS

Either the EA Javelin Anticheat update solved it, or buying the Elite Upgrade DLC in the EA App did.

I already owned the Elite Edition and Elite Upgrade DLC on Steam, but did not own the Elite Upgrade on the EA App. I wonder if the EA App not needing to apply or somehow not fully recognizing ownership of the Steam Elite Upgrade DLC in this edge case led to an internal conflict which could break an account in some way, unless one also bought an EA App copy of the Elite Upgrade DLC for parity purposes, and finally registering its ownership in a way the EA App could understand.

Also I’d say don’t focus so much on kills and death. Imo the games about winning and being a team player. So I always focus on capping objectives, supporting teammates with revives/ammo, and when I see in the last squad mate alive, I pull back to be a good spawn point

To get the ropes I usually recommend TDM so you can just push people without a care in the world to learn some basic angles for maps, how to move, and how to shoot.

But unfortunately they don't have the TDM playlist

seeing the actual stats for attachments makes me question dices balancing for certain things

especially the suppressors

PB heavy suppressor and 6ku suppressor make guns take an extra bullet to kill, compared to wrapped, which just reduces velocity, and type 4, which while it does reduce damage, its not enough to reduce the bullets to kill

green and blue lasers are useless too, they improve hipfire accuracy much less than the red laser, and they're much more visible, their recoil reduction is only 5% for hipfire only

also all the grips besides LWG grip are pointless

masterkey for some reason has faster rate of fire if you have short barrel

reasons why people hate it? Launch was terribly handled, specialist system is very divisive, amount of bots in some lobbies, and gunplay in general people hated especially coming after bf5 are just a few reasons on why people hate on the game.

Also depends on what you want in a BF, do you want a game with tight gunplay and arguably the best movement in the franchise and each role has a unique purpose? Battlefield 5 would be my suggestion, most active player count on steam for PC.

Want immersion over everything else? Battlefield 1 (my personal favorite as it was the first battlefield I played constantly)

Want a more modern game like 2042 with superior gunplay and vehicle control (would say map design but there are some REAL stinkers on this game)? Battlefield 4

all these games are active, as long as you look at the server browser you will have no issues finding games

In other news, I managed to uncover a potential source of game service disruption that any end user could have legitimately.

If a third-party antivirus software is set to autoscan any new drive media that is connected or detected (e.g. USB flash drives, network drives, and so on), even if not used, the software waiting to step in as an active background service in this way could be enough to induce system latency. Latency so bad it leads to intermittent performance hitches in any game.

It is on the end user to disable this function if it is not needed or wanted.
TL;DR BitDefender moment that could extend to any known to be very active or heavy-handed antivirus software.

(This only relates to Battlefield 2042 as part of troubleshooting what kind of overhead-inducing edge case could have been flagged as part of the recent service disruption bans, aside from being presumed false positives. It is shared for awareness's sake. If it ought to be moved to another channel, it can be reposted in #technology or #general and rephrased there.)

If I wanted to play a game about fine-tuning movement speed, I’d go play NASCAR: The Simulator.

Then they mention how “destruction” is still a major focus, which makes sense given the destruction was literally the selling point of this franchise from the start. But in 2025, the fact that you're still “validating” destructible objects feels like something out of 2010’s early access phase. If destruction isn't already satisfying at this point, maybe it's time to stop calling it "new" and just call it what it is: “expected.”

I think you really misunderstand how battlefield works, there are only a couple jets per side and the unlocks come in the form of gadgets and guns on the jet itself which doesn't take anywhere remotely near as long to unlock as say a grind in war thunder to a high tier vehicle. Battlefield isn't designed to be a grindfest like war thunder intentionally is
