on a different note, bf2042 is kinda good. It's my first battlefield game, decided to give it a try since one friend plays it and well, I'm happy with what I got. Heard only bad things about the game on release. Especially the elevator thing xd But yeah it's fun

Firstly, I’m just gonna ignore the stuff abt battlefield experience… you can’t excuse poor game design by calling that a standard trait of battlefield lol (and its not, we all know there were some amazing games in the past)

The call in system sounds like a good idea on paper, but very often it doesn’t work well in practice, for instance, once a vehicle other than a transport vehicle is called in, only squadmates can spawn on it (if they can even see it on the UI), so that rapidly limits the number of spawn opportunities when a game starts, hence why most people often start on foot.
Then there’s the fact that on most maps, the call ins preclude inclusion of on-map vehicle spawns, so you spawn in at the main spawn (maybe your vehicle call-in is on cooldown), and youre gonna have to walk. (Old BFs much more frequently included vehicles parked at spawns, not to mention being able to spawn on more things, like any friendly spawn beacon)

The map reworks were an improvement In some cases sure, but some maps were a sidegrade at best, and in some cases there were things they made worse (for instance 64p hourglass where you now spawn even more exposed than in the old map)… overall, they were a bandaid to bigger problems in their level design ideology compared to older games, so rather than getting more new maps, we ended up getting new versions of existing maps (with the originals being totally deleted from even portal)

Not every Recon needs to be actively pushing objectives. Blasco, Rao, Paik play an active role in that. Casper is a good spotter and can play good from a distance. Or he can also push as well with his drone doing the auto spotting as well - but that can be finicky depending on where you've parked the drone to auto spot. Speaking from experience.

Hey, just joined here, awesome game, been playing already 100's of hours. Doesn't fall short of other BF experiences.

Playing recon in BF is like wanting negative KD ratio Especially so in 2042 except maybe playing as Blasco and setting up infiltration devices. Operator balance is rough in 2042. V's class balance was rough but 2042 is on a whole another level. Medic is just objectively better than other classes in both games due to practically infinite self heal. Fix is simple though, give 2 healing stims/pouches to other classes. Medic can still keep it's usefulness but other classes wouldn't feel like handicap.
