this was due to a server exploit nothing to do with the connection type the game was using, no battlefield game has used a form of peer to peer networking all the way back to bad company 2, it's not a situation that can occur

call of duty does use peer to peer networking and it still does, so it can occur there, it can't with battlefield

there is a misconception that ping is only to do with networking, this isn't the case, if there's no available headroom you will hit a deadlock situation since packets are processed by the processor

offloaded by the NIC and then processed*, its probably happened but the ping "spikes" were just less severe, same problem at the end of the day

I just tried it with out the VPN. And did get better ping at 45ms. But half way through the match it started spiking to 300 again. Put the performance bar on top and say packet loss around 3-5% when it spiked.

I just don't understand how someone on a gtx 980 i3 8th gen is getting better performance than me on BF2042. I don't really have much problems on other games like Xdefiant. Even my Xbox series S seems to be better. Which is weird. But like deco said. My hardware is just old. Probably gots Grey hairs too. Lol

Well the way I see it, bf1 was simpler, more beginner friendly, with a focus on glamour and spectacle to sell the mood over being a complex shooter. Bfv had a slightly goofier tone but tried to play it out as a more squad focussed, survivalist style gameplay what with attrition and its squad systems, and 2042 was a ‘give them everything and let them make battlefield moments’ type thing, pure sandbox and player agency over meaningful balance.

So the next one could be different, a combination, what have you

You aren't really that much of a threat but it's more about drawing their attention, harassing them and compromising their decision making / flying ability

And if they come at you square on, thats when you gimp them out of the cockpit
