games don't process data any different than they did like 20 years ago. maybe you can throw some multi-threading in there in some places but generally speaking servers are just giant single-threaded boxes that send megabytes of data over the network to all players

well the trap you can fall into trying to make every gun unique is when you end up making most of the guns niche.
Theres going to be a meta and its probably going to fall somewhere in the more generalist weapons of each category. So having a handful like that means playing closer to the meta doesnt stick you with one gun, and those more unique guns have the bonus of feeling more unique.

BF4 is probably a bit too far but I dont think every single gun needs a gimmick.

I was playing new apex season and taking a break. I planned on coming back just before season 7 to complete the battlepass but then I noticed It was just gone when I logged in last week

The very fact that season 6 was so long is the very reason I did not complete it. I thought I had all the time in the world so I wasn't rushing to do so. Now let's say I came back 24 hours before the battlepass was gone and I'm at like level 70. I would have happily rushed my ass to complete it in 24 hours, but the problem is there was no communication leading up to it. They just expected people to be playing the game rather than waiting for reminders outside the game

Destiny 2 and Apex have no problem with extending their battlepass up until the new season is launched. If Battlefield is going to be the odd one out and end it at a random point a few weeks before the new season then they need to offer at least a single reminder a few weeks in advance.
