Set a limit depending on your monitor's refresh rate.

If you have a 144hz, for instance, go into console and type SimulationTime.MaxVariableFps 144 or, if you really want to save your CPU usage, SimulationTime.MaxVariableFps 72.

The console does autocomplete so you should be able to find the command by typing sim and it'll pop up as an available console command in-game.

SFAR or the Scar-H is best for damage

AK-24 is also good
