I think it stems from AA being gravitative towards lower skill individuals who are too afraid of other ground vehicles to push up and risk picking fights with them, hence why they stay on rooftops or in spawn where they can comfortably spam missiles out. Nothing stopping you but if you wanna hold down then do that too. Means you dont gotta switch fire modes all the time. Obviously this would be less practical on a high fire rate assault rifle
