The lack of destruction is purely down to the map designers, and was most likely pulled back a bit to ensure greater stability

I recently for the first time since it released got a CQ game on Hourglass. Can't believe they got rid of the stadium entirely, could've made for a really interesting TDM map or some such.

they didnt want to make 2 main player counts, they wanted all of 2042 to be 128p matchmaking and portal to be server browser 64p

they just fucked up portal so hard that it died immediately and then had to try and frankenstein 2042 to fit what everyone wanted

At least the Redacted map is actually focused on the CQB audience alone, there's very few long sightlines for shit like snipers, no vehicles, etc.

It doesn't try and force multiple different playstyles into it, which I appreciate beyond words even though I usually do not like CQB maps, but it's unironically one of the better maps in my book purely because it's actually focused at one specific playstyle and not trying to cram every aspect of the game into it.
