Initially this would allow for a series of environments in eastern Europe such as Poland, Belarus, the Baltic states, Finland, etc, each with their own unique elements.

Progressively over the game’s lifetime additional content could be added to include Sweden and larger-scale amphibious warfare in the Baltic Sea including Gotland and potentially Bornholm or Kaliningrad.

Additional content could include a scenario where China would invade Taiwan, leading to a NATO response in the Pacific and Asia (in effect making China a de facto CSTO member), permitting even more varied environments for maps and stories. Furthermore, even North Korea could play a role in this by invading South Korea (in effect making North Korea a CSTO member) which would naturally cause a NATO or even UN response to be organized in Asia as well.

I'm not really emotionally attached to this idea though so I'd settle for a decent modern to near-near-future setting, considering the technical evolution and reevaluation happening in a lot of countries right now.
