From what I can recall there was little backlash over the amount of customization and the nationality features, it was mostly in terms of the actual gameplay and graphical quality, but I could be remembering this wrong.

For the 2 people wondering, "wtf is an L22," think of it as an L86, but cut the foregrip off, graft a very short rail in its place, and shorten the barrel.
